Awesome ending! It was exciting enough when you tied in the Lay of Leithian, but you also did an amazing job building the friendship of Bilbo and Aragorn in a realistic way, with references to the main series here and there.
I really enjoyed this piece, so here's to fruition of hard work!

That was lovely, I loved the descriptive writing, particularly of the dwarves singing, and of Elrond's face at the end of the story. I thought it was very sweet and funny that Estel wanted to have an adventure and find treasure.

Congratulations on finishing this work! Interesting to imagine Bilbo and Aragorn as close friends before the events of LOTR. They're two characters who are never explicitly stated to be companions, and yet surely it must have happened given events and timelines. How nice that Frodo should be able to continue this companionship in the future.

This was a great idea for how Bilbo could have met little Estel! I can imagine how the dwarves' stories would have caught Estel's imagination, and I loved how Bilbo was hoping Elrond would put in a word about his deed to Thorin, keen to prove himself as a trusty burglar! Bilbo was very funny and I think you portrayed him well.

It doesn't really matter how long it took, I am very glad you decided to finish this story! I'll try to keep that line in mind, on how Aragorn advises Bilbo to just do his best and improve that, it can serve as a motivation for me too while I'm feeling overwhelmed with how good some others here are at telling their stories :) Thanks for writing!

Oh Bravo! I loved this story. I often wondered why Tolkien never wrote it himself. So many good things to say. Nice connections. It needed to be written.

But there are a few time tense errors throughout, has instead of had is the most obvious. Bilbo asking a question ending with ... ",right." is off tone I think. It has a modernity which does not work. Perhaps ", if I am correct /right", or ", I assume /suspect."
I also wondered about Elrond going to find Aragorn without more companions. I know it fit your plotline so Bilbo and Elrond could spend time together (which was so nicely written by the way) but it seemed unrealistic somehow.
But overall, very sweet story. And skilful.

Little pieces coming together

I'm glad the broken (shoulder) blade will be mended!
This is probably entirely inappropriate, but I'm really amused by the fact that Aragon is still the youngest of all even when he is 71, which gives a good reason for him to be cared for and tended.
And yes, as a true hobbit, eating gets to do with everything. I like how Bilbo tired to take care of Elrond too.

I have never seen this relationship before and I am very intrigued. I love the idea of Bilbo and Aragorn meeting when Estel was young, and I love the idea of Bilbo relating to Elrond when it comes to (adopted?) sons. Please update! This is a fantastic story :D

Very much enjoyed reading this! Your characterization is excellent, especially Bilbo's, and I love the pacing of your current arc. Hopefully you'll have time to finish this at some point but I totally understand that life gets in the way even when we'd rather it didn't. Still, even if it remains a WIP this story is fantastic.

First of all, congratulations on the birth of your daughter! I'm amazed you found the time or energy to write, but I'm very glad you did. This is a wonderful story, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I like the way you write Elrond and your Bilbo is spot on.

This chapter contained plenty of hurt and I am looking forward to the comfort, whenever you get to it, especially now that Glorfindel has shown up. Thank you so much for continuing this.
