The scene with Bethany and her pup was sweet! I imagine a Mabari puppy is probably the cutest thing in the world.

Carver's reacion made me laugh out loud. That poor boy, he just needs to learn to get along with mages!

I've always wondered why Varric never kept a house. He likes to drink, yes and he keeps that sort of company, but the room was always so richly decorated. How could he trust that it wouldn't be raided? As many spies and informants as Varric employed, I'd have thought a small or moderate house would have been safer for him.

I was nearly roaring with laughter at "Andraste's left tit"! And then the "wickedly curved dagger from...somewhere" did me in. Hilarious!

I like how you portrayed Darktown. We don't get to physically see a lot in the game of what it must have been like, living there. I imagine towards the docks was probably the worst, but Darktown was definitely dangerous and dirty. You detailed it quite well!

Oooo good setup with the chill on Bethany when she passed near Anders. Suspense!

Bethany got brave! Hurrah! I was surprised she sought him out on her own but then it would make sense that mages, in a time of persecution, might generally seek one another for solace.

I had a hard time choosing which story to read first and I must say I am glad to have chosen this one first. I teared up a bit reading Marian's death, that was well written.

Carver seems to be a bit of a jerk, which I actually like. He isn't usually portrayed this way.

Bethany seems a little too desperate in her conversations with Carver, would love to see a bit more backbone in her. However I did giggle out loud at the bit where she punched Gamlen in his snotty nose! What a sight that must have been :)

Please stay on this story! You had a good idea and have turned it into a great story that I can't wait to finish. Also I would like you to have the gang turn in the money on time and also Bethany has a relationship with Fenris.

Finally caught up! Torturing myself though, knowing you've put this on hold, but whatever, was an amazing read thus far and gives me something to look forward to.

So many twists and turns to the original story we all know, which makes it that much more exciting. Sebastian, Maker I love the badboy in him, and almost hope Bethany doesn't make it back in time for him to take full advantage of his deal. Is that wrong of me? Haha oops, but he is a delight.

Anders and Bethany are adorable together, and I have voted them as my favorite couple in your poll lol. I adore their chemistry, much more than Fenris (perhaps because he'll always be Hawke's girl in my eyes). His sympathy for her though is surprising, and I do enjoy the side twist you've given his story as well.

Grr on Carver, joining just before the trip? Eek, what a jerk he is...hopefully he has a fully prepared explanation for whenever they return.

Hopefully the two groups can merge soon, and your muse returns in full force, although I am happy you're currently occupied with some Cullen goodness. How creative your mind is, and how wonderful it is to be entertained by it ;)

Never thought I'd be interested in a Bethany story, but you've certainly made it intriguing already with the changes made to the base story, so off I go to enjoy some more!

I was really impressed with how you just sucked me into this. I can't wait to see the next chapter when you're up for it - the twists to cannon, your own touches, the characters are all done superbly well. Bethany was always one of my favourite characters and you've made me feel like Marian Hawke watching over her from the grave.

Try not to stay away tooooooo long, I'm still pretty pumped to find out whether or not Bethany gets any treasure out of this deal and whether or not she delivers to Sebastian on time. (And how the boys react if she doesn't.)

In the meantime I GUESS I could see what this other story is all about. ;)

I wonder if you might have ground yourself to a halt with the timeline you set up? The "54 days" and such... it was an exciting thing to see ticking by, but I know as an author seeing that many days and thinking "I need to fill that with something" might have scared me. A lot. So I wonder - could that be the source of your dry spell?

In either case, this is a lovely story and I enjoy it immensely. Take the time you need for yourself - you've done such a great job already, and D&D will appreciate the time you spend on it! Until then, we'll wait patiently for you to come back to Bethany. :-D

You already know that I loved the Varric bit, but it was super cool how you incorporated into the chapter - I wasn't expecting our beautiful apostate to interrupt.

Now, I heard a mention of cake. I see no cake. the cake is lie. ... oh god, I had too, my inner Sten comes out now and then (never when I'm writing though.) There is no cake because all the cake goes to Eve Hawke xD I read "Friends Shouldn't Drink Alone" in my early days on the site and loved it, but never reviewed, oops I was shy when I first got here, but I'll take this moment now to tell you that I lurved it!

Poor Anders and Bethany. To *me* it seems quite clear the romance is Anders/Bethany. There's certainly more there than the her and the elf :) But we'll see how right I am lol.
