PyroFox117 chapter 9 . 5/11 A great read! This was a fitting ending. It's sad that Elizabeth and Grunmann couldn't stay with the Hive, but it was probably for the best. Most humans, by their very nature, probably wouldn't cope well in such an environment. Likewise, Teddy would feel constrained by human society. Still, it'd be nice if they got to see each other once in a while. My only wish is that Frieze died via flamethrower. While the Queen killing her was understandable and thematically powerful, burning would've been suitably ironic, considering Xenos hate fire, and she's ice-based, yada yada. Probably too obvious, though. Regardless, this was a fantastic story, and I hope to move onto your others soon. |
PyroFox117 chapter 6 . 5/10 Well, these were three more very interesting chapters. The story is really picking up steam, and I'm interested to see how you wrap it up. Ah, so Teddy is genetically engineered. I mean, I guess that makes sense with the cloning and whatever in Alien: Resurrection. Actually, I like that a lot, though you imply some human psychics are evolving on their own. Really, this whole thing reminds me very much of Akira, or Jack's backstory from Mass Effect. This is way darker than I thought you'd go, but it's definitely still "you." Also, these guards are even worse than the ones from Astral Link. Probably stupid to have the "evil psychic kids" experiment and the "alien monsters" one on the same asteroid. Honestly, they kind of deserved to be wiped out with such genius design work. Speaking of which, I liked the Jurassic Park reference in Chapter 5. Very fitting for the situation. Finally, I was struck by something from the very bottom of this chapter - Xenomorphs praying about "The Great Mother". Was that the Queen they were talking about, or do they have their own religion? I hope it's the latter, because that's an awesome idea I haven't thought of before. I mean, they're sentient creatures in your canon, so it makes perfect sense that they would. And with all the themes in this chapter, plus my thoughts on religion, it reminds me of the Quranic phrase "we do not wrong people - they wrong themselves" and how it echoes Nyx's thoughts. That's really interesting. |
PyroFox117 chapter 3 . 5/9 This is quite an interesting story. I know this said this doesn't take place in the same universe as your main continuity, and I see why that is now. These Xenomorphs are savage and brutal. Which makes sense, considering they don't realize humans are sentient, but still, it's terrifying how ruthless and efficient they are. Hopefully the planet they're on has more animal life so they have more means of reproduction. Speaking of alien, I noticed you consistently referred to them as "aliens", which threw me off. Why would they be called that - they aren't aliens to one another. I'm also curious about what the humans were studying. The nameless child, I'm guessing, who is even scarier than the Xenomorphs. I'm not sure if you intended it, but there's something inhuman about him, from his calm as he watches a man die and his apparently psychic powers. I'm not saying he's evil, but he seems far more adapted to the lifestyle of a Xenomorphs than a human should be. The most fascinating thing, though, was undoubtedly the "Other". Seems almost like a ghost; sounds like a lot of miners died on this planet over the years. This seems even stranger than your other fics, but I'm excited to see where it goes. |
