I really enjoyed this. You can definitely see the growth in your writing. I hope you come back to this one day. And write more along these lines.

Honestly, I think that you have your Shepard too quickly dissecting into James' persona. As well as developing an 'invisible connection' between the two. This is their first meeting, correct? Stories are far more satisfying when there is a development, a build up - whether its the action or relationship, doesn't matter. You've already set up that these two are already drawn to each other. Where's the drive, then, as the reader to continue reading?

I'm not trying to discourage you - James happens to be one of my favorite ME3 characters, and I was very disappointed he was not a romance option. But, a bit more development in the story and characters would have been nice.

I'll follow, because, as you say, this is your first FF. It will be interesting to see how this goes - and hope for development.
