Reviews for A Quiet Understanding
Ash Lee Brodford chapter 1 . 11/22/2016
Very good
Noctivagant Ghost chapter 1 . 2/13/2016
I refuse to believe that this story has 50 favorites and only 10 reviews. It's wonderfully written, with excellent attention to detail—enough to draw the reader in without rambling or droning on. Their interactions feel in-character, and there's a sense of respect for the source material and the ME lore buried in the text. I could easily imagine the two having met in such a fashion while on Omega. The mutual respect for each other's line of work is a nice touch, and I'm glad you took the time to hint at the tragedies that drove them both to live in such a crime-infested cesspool. All in all, a pretty damn good read and contribution to the ME fandom. Nicely done.
Twilight Okami chapter 1 . 6/27/2013
Such a wonderful story you wrote here between Garrus and Mordin! The way you wrote them was so in character that I could picture their voices as they interacted with each other. Also, the scenario of how they might have met was perfectly executed too. I enjoyed it very much!
Zakeraz chapter 1 . 11/25/2012
Beautiful idea, beautiful story. I wonder what it would have been like if in the game Garrus or Mordin mentioned they had already met. That would have been a cool story element.
Niamh St. George chapter 1 . 11/24/2012
This was really fantastic - it makes complete sense that their paths would have crossed on Omega, and I loved this glimpse into what such a crossing might entail. In particular I loved your Mordin - he was so completely and wonderfully pitch-perfect, and he's so underrepresented in fics (maybe because his voice is difficult to capture). I actually found myself *giddy* when it came time for him to enter the fic. Lovely, lovely work - thank you for writing and sharing it!
tarysande chapter 1 . 11/8/2012
I was chatting with servantofclio the other day about some headcanon I have re: Garrus and Mordin (reading between the lines I think they have much more of a friendship than the game lets us see) and she sent me this way and I'm so glad she did. I LOVE this take. You've written them marvelously, too. Mordin's voice is such a challenge but I absolutely heard his lines in his voice.

This exchange, in particular, was just perfect:

"Garrus." The turian moved his hand to his opposite shoulder, fumbling at the latches on his armor.

Mordin moved to assist. "No family name?" he inquired.

A short, pained bark of laughter. "Not on Omega. Careful, shoulder's dislocated."

Thank you so much for sharing this!
SpiritOfSherwood chapter 1 . 8/12/2012
That was awesome! An interesting insight into Garrus' and Mordin's lives on Omega. Loved their interactions with Mordin being the Crazy/Awesome Uncle figure!

Peres chapter 1 . 8/12/2012
Beautiful idea, yes, and beautifully done. Mordin's dialogue strikes me as really tricky to maintain, but you've done a great job. Garrus's voice was spot-on, too. I really enjoyued this.

Can I ask for another chapter? I'd love to see Mordin's recruitment when he and Garrus already know each other. And maybe Garrus (prompted by Mordin, perhaps?) explaining that Shepard is the friend who was dead, and Mordin being all fascinated. Maybe Grunt comes along too?... anyway, that kind of thing.

Great story, wonderful interaction.
Lots-of-Little-Pink-Clouds chapter 1 . 8/12/2012
Hmm. Interesting concept. I see nothing that needs changing... Good job. :) But I also read The Doctor and the Archangel so it seemed like reading the same story twice. Ah... No offense. Still, I like this idea. :) Who wouldn't think that Mordin and Garrus meet up at least once or twice?
veetvont chapter 1 . 8/12/2012
I absolutely loved this. Both Garrus and Mordin sounded perfectly in character, so much so that it was like I could hear their voices. This was indeed a beautiful idea. Excellent work.
