As Jew, I tell you that this was amazing, beautifully written.

A really touching story, even for a devout atheist like me. Keep writing

This really is amazing. I think you capture the Jewish faith well, and how it can mold with being magical. I like the idea of the Patriarchs as wizards - it honestly makes sense. And the way you have him strong in his faith in some moments, and blaming God in others, it is realistic and makes sense, and no faith journey is good all the time. You did an amazing job building up his character in this. I love the way he built up the morale for his house, and that you paired him with Susan. It's a lovely lovely story.
Akela Victoire chapter 1 . 11/24/2012
I thought this was an excellent read. It was believable, flowed well, no grammar/spelling errors I could spot...

Great job!
displayheartcode chapter 1 . 9/20/2012
Belated L'shana tova!

It's also head canon for me that Goldstein's Jewish. And there were some parts that I found to be very relatable. Like with saying the psalm in English, and I cheered when he used serpents instead of lions. All the parallels that you also drew were very compelling.

Mazel tov, you did a great job. Good luck if you're during Yom Kippur!
autumn midnights chapter 1 . 8/2/2012
Believability: 9/10. I'm pretty sure it's almost universally accepted that Anthony Goldstein is Jewish, and I like that you not only included that, but made it a major theme of the fic. In addition, the descriptions of what Carrow-run Hogwarts and the Final Battle were like were both realistic, and fit with what we knew of them from canon.

Characterization: 9/10. I could really see Anthony's motivations, his emotions, and his personality. I think you did an excellent job of showing what he was like during this year, and you really brought light to a minor character that we haven't seen too much of.

SPaG: 8/10. There were a couple areas that should have had a period/comma, and 'DA Members' should have been 'DA members', but these were minor things and overall, it was very well-written.

General Enjoyment: 8/10. Usually I'm a little iffy on reading fics that mix religion and Harry Potter, but I think you did an good job with it here. Anthony's faith is very real, and I think you did a very nice job with the topic. In addition, I love the idea of the 'What You Should Be Learning In Muggle Studies' club, and I just love 'what happened at Hogwarts during DH' fics in general, so great work!

Total Score: 34/40

This was okay, not really my kind of story at all though, sorry! Your grammar and spelling was good. Keep writing!
