cutterjohns chapter 3 . 3/16/2013 Brilliant update! I'm really excited that the mutants have shown up, and that the plot has begun heating up! It fit the tone of the story to introduce Hades' clan in such a brutal, jarring manner. You did a really nice job describing the attack itself, too. The imagery was so vivid and raw. I was literally cringing at the bit where Brenda was forced to retrieve the cleaver from Will's corpse. Ouch. The entire sequence felt like something straight out of a HHE movie itself - and I mean that in a good way, of course! I'm really enjoying Brenda's POV. You write her (and everyone else, human or mutant) in such a realistic way. I'm excited to see how Brenda's character will grow, and how she'll handle everything that's thrown her way. I'm glad you portrayed her as someone with a backbone; she'll definitely need it it she's going to survive in those godforsaken mines. Ah, so Chameleon makes his first official appearance! :D I'm really eager to see how his character will reveal itself over the course of the story, and how his relationship with Brenda will develop. It's really amazing to look at their first encounter and imagine the things they're going to go through together later on. After all, it's gonna be quite some time before Brenda is able to view Chameleon as anything but a monster/murderer. I can't help wondering what kind of impression she left on him, as well, since Brenda has established that she's a fighter. Another thing I'm curious about is who actually survived and who didn't. I'll be surprised if Odette turns out to dead; I assumed that all three girls would be spared. Then again, accidents happen - especially with Hades and his temper - so it's not implausible that she'd get killed in the crossfire or something. As for Sam, I like the guy but I just don't see how he'll make it through this, considering the fact he has nothing to offer the mutants but the meat on his bones. Overall this is turning out to be an extremely entertaining piece of fanfiction, as I anticipated from the start. I can't wait to read more of it! :) |
bummersummer chapter 2 . 3/4/2013 Please continue! This is a realllyyyyy good story. |
The-hardest-part chapter 2 . 1/28/2013 What!? Why in the world would you stop there!? God I curse the person who came up with cliffhangers! I hate them, but dang this one gave me a near about heart attack when I saw you stopped there! Gahh I swear I re-read the two chapters twice just to make sure that was well and truly where you cut us off and now I'm going to go stir crazy waiting for the next chapter (please dear lord let that be soon) to be posted. Please tell me your going to soon, pretty please? Ugh god where do I even start! To put it quite simply: this story is greatest thing mankind has ever invented! Lol, well... Maybe not the greatest, Dr. Pepper has you beat, but it is pretty awesome. I mean the characters are extremely well developed, all their reactions are completely realistic, the plot is thick with tension, and the entire story is very well written, I've seen no grammar mistakes (which is nice cause that means my eyes won't bleed) and I could go on and on about how awesome your story is. However to save time I'll only go over the really cool parts. For starters, I am quite frankly, in love with your characters. Each person has well thought out personalities and reactions to the events that are taking place. But the really awesome part about them is that you've made the characters that aren't meant to be liked, well likable. They're not two dimensional people who have no redeeming qualities, they act like actual people, which most authors on fanfiction seem to forget. Just 'cause they act like douche doesn't really mean they are one, like Will for example. Jeez I'm already terrified for the people, I really don't want any of them to die, but of course they will. By the way I love how Brenda's getting all protective of Jane, I thought that totally sweet. Omg now the part that has me really excited: Brenda and Chameleon! The more I think about them together the more I go "d'aww" on the inside. Truthfully I was a little amazed that this couple had a story written about them together, I never really thought about them together. BUT! After reading this story and pondering over them together the more I think that they would go really well together. Well, as well as a normal girl whose friends are about to get slaughtered by said cannibalistic mutant can go together. XD But really I can already taste the... Something... I don't what but something's there and I can taste it! God which leads me back to why it was so cruel of you to put a cliffhanger where you did! I just can't wait to see Brenda's reaction to Chameleon and vice versa. You where so CLOSE! I swear I died a little on the inside when I saw you just stopped. Jk, sorry for harping on you for that so much but... Dang it I wanna see brendmeleon action going on soon! How long do you think it will take for post another chapter? Ugh please update soon! Whoaaa sorry for writing an essay for my review but I don't always review but when I do it's always really long. XD But hey! Perhaps it will motivate you to continue? |
Guest chapter 2 . 1/23/2013 WOW! I am absolutely amazed, this has to be one of the more well written stories in the 'Hills Have Eyes' section so needless to say I am stunned when I see its faved/followed/reviewed by so little people. The characters are immensely well written and enjoyable, already I feel afraid for them for the horrors they are undoubtably about to face. So well written in fact some small part of me enjoys Ellias' character, who was a complete and utter tool so far, and worries for him. The plot, although we're only two chapters into the story, already has me in suspense and I'm dying in my seat to what happens next. That's another thing, usually when I think of Brenda when being paired up with a mutant I think of Lizard, however when I saw Chameleon instead I immediately became intrigued and I'm very excited to see where it goes. I hope you continue and I have high hopes that this will be a great story! |
cutterjohns chapter 2 . 12/21/2012 I may or may not have screamed when I discovered you updated this... XD As usual, everything in the story was incredibly realistic. Just like I did the Carter family and Sarge's recruits, I felt genuinely worried for the wellbeing of Brenda and her friends. I hate the idea of something bad happening to them, although it's clearly unavoidable at this point. Really, I'm most concerned about the women, for obvious reasons... While reading this, I nearly forgot that almost everyone in here is an OC! You really do care about them, which is saying something because we only so much about them at this point in the fic. I didn't feel that anyone was one-dimensional or stereotypical at all. If only more horror movies were actually like that, lol. I like how diverse the reactions to the situation were. Like how some people, such as Brenda, were able to keep their heads (despite the fact they were scared) while others, like Odette, completely broke down. I mean, that's what would happen in reality, after all. Not everyone is going to handle tough situations in the same fashion. Another thing I found rather touching was how they were all able to work together as a team and protect each other. Am I imagining things, or is there a spark between Jane and Juan...? Those damn cliffhangers! D: I'm dying to see what happens next - no pun intended, promise. As much as I enjoy reading about Brenda's interactions with her friends I do hope Chameleon makes his appearence soon. Judging by the ways things are headed, however, I have faith that he will. ;) Can't wait for chapter three! |
cutterjohns chapter 1 . 7/2/2012 Excellent start, as I predicted! I've been really looking forward to the posting of this story! You wrote Brenda's perspective nicely. She felt very in-character; a nice girl, but one who can stand up for herself and mouth off when required. Most people portray Brenda as a spoiled brat, and it's nice to see you went the opposite route (I personally hate fics where people make her out to be the spawn of the devil). You did wonderfully with the OCs, especially for someone new to that sort of thing. They were a fascinating bunch, and Brenda fit in well. My favourite is probably Jane. :) She seems so sweet. The implications of Brenda's past were really intriguing (during the scene where Elias is rude to Jane) and I can't wait to see that explored later on, as well as the character of Brenda herself. Very excited to see how she and Chameleon interact! Also - you have a knack for writing suspense scenes. You can really feel the cast's tension, and their reactions are very realistic too. Nothing felt rushed, either, which is a big plus. I can't wait to read more! I totally love this pairing and it's about time someone wrote for them! P.S. Thank you so much for crediting me! Means a lot! |
