I absolutely loved this!
TheRedScreech chapter 1 . 4/3/2017
This is so great! I love the nitty-gritty details like the remembrances. It's so cool and yet so sad. Wonderfully done!
nebroadwe chapter 1 . 3/7/2017
I'm not a fan of the Bayverse proper, but I am a fan of Bayverse fanfiction, and this is one of my favorite short stories. I love the way it makes actual characters out of Bay's plot functionaries, characters who understand and misunderstand each other in realistic ways despite their fantastic experiences. I also love the way what looks at first like a fish-out-of-water piece turns into a meditation on death and memory while also taking on the SFnal questions raised by differences in scale (temporal as well as spatial) between Terrans and Cybertronians. And does it all in Lennox's particular idiom - no mean feat! Many kudos!
Dragon of Dispair chapter 1 . 9/5/2014
This is one seriously awesome fic, and just stuffed full of unforgettable imagery and hilarious internal dialogue.

Lerrinus chapter 1 . 5/6/2013
Wow! I really love this, I've never seen these death rites written with such detail in a fanfic before, this is a real crystalline piece of writing! Keep up the awesome work! :-)
Sakiku chapter 1 . 9/16/2012
This was... beautiful. Painful. Amazing.

I loved it how Lennox was slowly making sense of things. How he went from Black Cannon to going home with a truck that ran on hell knew what, but it definitely wasn't gas. How the bots - all of them - were alien and just so _big_, and how he did his best to somehow cope with it. And how he conducted himself like a military, but diplomatic liaison to an alien head of state.

I loved all those tiny observations Lennox made. Like that their mode of coming to Earth looked hell of a lot more like refugees than anything else. Or who the hell let a scout paint himself iyellow/i.

Most of all I loved it though how you gave the Autobots their own death rites, ashes of the dead into their wounds. It was incredibly moving. Incredibly painful, too, but yet also incredibly wonderful seen solely from a spiritual perspective.

Thank you very, very much for sharing this wonderful marvel.

Taluliaka chapter 1 . 7/15/2012
Very nice Cybertronian character study here. I liked your reasoning for the symbols on their armour, and how they choose to remember both Autobot and Decepticon casualties. I wonder if the Decepticons do the same...

And Will was wonderful, believable both as part of the military and as a guy trying to deal with the idea of aliens. :)

Keep writing,
Love Taluliaka.
Somatrasiel chapter 1 . 7/9/2012
That was particularly amazing. Great job.
yamiishot chapter 1 . 7/1/2012
Wow, that's just...wow. Incredible.
SweetIndigo chapter 1 . 6/26/2012
Wow, that's really interesting. I think the whole idea of 'wearing' what's left of the sparks of the fallen really exemplifies what it means to be autobot. Optimus comes off as a truly powerful leader; it's so touching and bittersweet. You also really showed Lennox's character...how he wanted to properly honor the being he killed.

This story also gave me a lot to think about. What it means to honor the dead, and what the difference is between a friend and an enemy. Hey, you made me think philosophical thoughts!

Wonderful story, it has so much depth and meaning! Very enjoyable to read. . Thank you so much for sharing, def going in the favs! Love seeing you put new stuff on fanfic!
Borath chapter 1 . 6/26/2012
Utterly stunning - the world-building here, the emotional depth and significance of tradition and culture in particular, were a delight to read.

Apologies for a review that is far less substantial than this fic deserves, but in summary - loved it.
1Timberwolf chapter 1 . 6/26/2012
Great job, I really loved this story.
Zea T chapter 1 . 6/26/2012
I really enjoyed this. You did wonderfully at capturing a realistic and believable voice for Lennox. I could hear his weariness and confusion and sheer gritty determination coming through loud and clear. I like the way you worked in the cultural/religious elements and the brutal tragedy of Jazz's loss too.

This story felt real and compelling throughout and had a sense of immediacy I rarely see in fan fiction. I very much enjoyed reading it and would like to thank you for sharing this fascinating and well-written piece.
