I keep finding these jewels through a search system. There's one thing I hate about stories like this. The authors always apologize for writing anything happy. They've chosen a special word to demean it - fluff. It should be the other way around. The derogatory statements should be pointed at dark writing and those who insist that writing must be stink to high heaven to be considered good. If it doesn't make you sick at your stomach it is fluff.

Talk like that reminds me of a certain odor I recall from childhood on a farm. This odor was always present in and around tiny shed-like buildings set some little distance from the house. Oh, I remember. They called them outhouses. Or toilets. Yes. That's what it reminds me of when people turn up their noses at any story that doesn't turn your stomach.

really loved the concept of the story but I have an issue with you portraying a 3 year old. I work with kids of that age and even younger...and a not even 2 year old can open their own backpack without much help and kids at the age of three normally talk properly...well, easy sentence structures, easy words but mostly grammatically right...they know that it should be 'she says' instead of 'she say' for example...sorry if this review was not all positive like all my others for you were, but if I didn't work with kids every day I wouldn't even have been bothered by it probably lol

I don't like fics with them as parents at all but you caught his vunerability very well.

Wonderfully written piece. Though their was fluff in there (A sickening dose of it the good kind of course), but their was some great insight into human emotions esp those pertaining to a relationship b/w parents and their children.

It brought some memories from my childhood to the forefront and I must thank you for that. The story had just the right mixture of live, sweetness and light hearted moments. Lanie surely did a number on Castle. Would love it if you could write something on how Rick and Kate extract their revenge on Lanie.

But what touched me the most was witnessing Rick's vulnerability as a father (Its so easy to forget that he never had a father growing up and still managed to perform his duties as a dual parent with Alexis so flawlessly.) and Kate trying her best to cinvince him of his worth as one. Really loved that part.

I am reading your other stories as well. Its a surprise you dont get more reviews on them. Because are quite gifted as a writer with good insight into the characters and more importantly the human psyche. Irrespective, keep writing because you do have the gift, as long as you enjoy it. Take care.

I LOVED it! Nicole is darling and that picture was too perfect for words. So all I can say is-can you get a kid to draw it and put it as the cover for this story? Now it's making ME want to draw a picture like that! Hmmm, maybe I will... :) It's stories like this that make me hope that Stana's idea of having them be married with a kid by season 7 (Nathan said season 10) comes true.
