darcy58 chapter 1 . 8/16/2013 Beautiful, how you took the hand on the shoulder and turned it into the beginning of the Janto quiet moments that should have been in the shows is just wonderful. This is like a slow movement in a piano concerto. Well done. |
chironsgirl chapter 1 . 8/10/2012 In this case, Ianto was the only one who could tell him the truth; you do the best you can with whatever cards you're dealt. Sometime you get a royal flush, sometimes a handful of jokers. Either way, you have to play your cards. |
WinterDance chapter 1 . 7/18/2012 I always found the reactions of the team in this as slightly hypocritical but then again I always found the holier than thou attitude Gwen came off with to be that way, starting with no indication of remorse for the amount of deaths that occurred when she let the alien gas loose. |
Maximilien Robespierre chapter 1 . 7/9/2012 Nice. You got both of them quite in character and not at all one dimensional. |
Nancy Brown chapter 1 . 6/20/2012 I like what you did with the scenario here. :) |
Monocerosik chapter 1 . 6/8/2012 Oooooh, wow. Definitely wow. I've just watched the episode "Small Worlds," I'm still under it's charm - such a brilliant show... And after watching that, I googled torchwood fanfiction, opened random page and begin reading. This. I absolutely love it. It's sweet and deep, gentle and full of something hard to describe. It's amazing how you've filled this short story with so many emotions, promises, hopes, fears. Fantastic. Well, fantastic doesn't even begin to express my opinion, but that's all I can say, for now. I really liked the way you slowly progressed with the feelings they experienced, how smoothly you could describe them, capture them and show to the readers. Rarely I read something so worthwhile as this. |
PadawannaB chapter 1 . 6/7/2012 I loved it! The style's wonderful, it has a beautiful, easy flow to it. A true joy to read! The team's reaction to Jack's decision was, in my opinion as well, a tad too strong. The fact that someone had to decide, and they couldn't do it, must have been hard to grasp in the heat of the moment, but to stay mad for a longer period of time is just inconsiderate. It's good he has Ianto, who, so soon after his own betrayal, is able to look at the situation objectively and with experience, and see it for what it is. In this fic, I especially liked the detail of including the hand Jack placed on Ianto's shoulder. It's such a small thing in the episode, but Ianto's expression at the gesture really shows that it means more. The way you wrote that into the story was inspirational :) The conversation between the two of them was heartwarming. You captured their voices so well, and the moment Ianto denied Jack being a monster sent shivers down my spine. The contrast to the heated words in 'Cyberwoman' is so strong. Same could be said about the ending. Ianto forgiving Jack has, as did Jack's hand on his shoulder, so much more to it than what first meets the eye, and it is just as desperately needed. It made me smile :) All in all, just pure gold. You're amazing, keep the good stuff coming! |
LadyDeb1970 chapter 1 . 6/7/2012 "And you can't condemn yourself, either. Your only problem, Jack, is that you care too much. But you still know your responsibilities, and so you make the choices that we can't bring ourselves to, even though it tears you apart. As flaws go, it's not such a bad one." **That line absolutely sums Jack up. He cares deeply, he knows his responsibilities, and makes the decisions that no one else has the guts to make. I think you could even say that he makes those decisions because he does care so deeply. Well done. |
Angstosaur chapter 1 . 6/7/2012 I liked this ... the quiet after the storm, the reconnection completed from where it began at the start of that episode, with Jack's hand on Ianto's back ... and the understanding between them of what it means to make choices, good or bad and the consequences of being judged for those decisions |
