Wayward chapter 1 . 9/30/2014
Why this wonderful piece doesn't have any more reviews, I have no idea. But it was beautiful, and it took my feels and wrenched them to pieces. I love how explored different points of view here, and how you characterized the relationship all four nations have with each other. I think I especially enjoyed that you used the present tense for this, as it gives it more of a less story-telling feeling and more of an introspective, character-analysis type of one.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Thank you.

I only know Hetalia canon from the very first series, but beyond that am basically clueless. I enjoyed it for the insanely politically incorrect satire, however have never been particularly interested in the fandom because I have a hard time imagining the characters in serious roles.

That said, this was lovely. You very effectively illustrated that we're all connected, and friends give of themselves willingly to help each other in the best of times, and especially in the worst. I don't know anything about the Canadian military, but I very much enjoyed how lovingly detailed and solemn this was. And even so, I was left with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end.

Thank you for such a beautiful, heartfelt read. :)

Wow... This was an amazing piece. I don't know the fandom but this work was powerful, touching, incredibly beautiful.

I did get a little confused between the switching from names of people to using the names of Nations but I figured it out in the end.

It is amazing. Well done
Blue Wallpaper chapter 1 . 6/4/2012
Gosh I'm starting to cry...this story was so beautiful! You wrote it with a very well crafted hand, and it was sweet to have the entire FACE family attend. I'm surprised this came from the kink meme though; regardless, it prompted you to write this beautiful piece.

I particularly enjoyed your description of their rankings, and why Canada felt that it was right to be a Corporal, as well as his feelings on why Arthur and Francis had their particular positions. I wonder about why Alfred was a Sergeant though? The ending was another of my favorite moments-it just felt so right to have the whispers of the fallen touch upon England and France's ears as they left the tomb after guard duty. Just the notion that the four would stay on night guard duty in and of itself was a surprising plot-twist that was just...I can't stop gushing about this story. It's just perfect. It handles war and loss and sacrifice, duty and honor in a mature melody that haunts and lifts us up, while humbling us at the same time.

Thank you so much for writing this, and may our soldiers-all of our soldiers, everywhere-be safe, at least for tonight.
DefiantDreams chapter 1 . 6/3/2012
This was wondeful. It had an undercurrent of pain, and suffering, but overall, it held pride. This was a great piece, one of my favorites, really. And that line? "...but it showed Francis just how intertwined they all were. Canada's soldiers are his soldiers, just like his are America's, and America's are England's." Was so striking, so wonderful, so amazing. It really hit the target, and if that was the entire story, I would have been happy and touched already. However, it wasn't. And you held up to that standard. Each paragraph was as poetic as the last, as heartbreaking and amazing. This was a great read! I loved it very much. Damn. The sacrifice of war is something raw and something each person would find painful to remember, especially if you were there to witness it. Even more so for the nations, because their people died for them, because they loved them and wanted to protect them. In a way, it was because of them and their decisions.

Thank you for this work! It really made my day. :)

I love the military-nations image that you presented.

I haven't been to the one in Canada, but I have seen the Changing of the Guard at Arlington in Washington, D.C. and it is an awesome experience.

I loved how you wrote the FACE family; how they each had each others' backs. Just wonderful.
