Reviews for FailSafe
Guest chapter 1 . 5/9/2019
Loki has has a hold on Selvig's mind alot longer that Clint. Right at the end of Thor 1 it already showes Loki is influencing his thoughts. The only explanation is that Loki allowed Celvig to build the fail-safe. Loki never intended to win. He intended to escape Thanos and get back to Asguard. He was still on a leash with a conection to Thanos' minions till after the portal was shut and he was hulksmashed. That's why he looked so relieved when he lost.

Oh I love this idea!

It's been pointed out that Hawkeye was probably the one that was most in control while being controlled. He shot Fury in the chest when Burton would be one of the few who was well aware that the man wore a vest all the time so if he wanted Fury dead he would have aimed for the head and he's hawkeye, he wouldn't have missed. He shot at an unprepared Hill several times and missed every time. Once again Hawkeye doesn't miss, especially when the target is caught off guard. He was the one that managed to infiltrate the helicarrier so he would have been the one to destroy it or kill key members but he did minimal damage. and like you said, that fight was rather pathetic considering he beat her in order to bring her in so long ago. so yeah..definitely holding back there. mind control sucks but you can deflect it at times to where control slips somewhat. Good story though, i really liked it, one of the best covering the issue
Robyn S. Mockingbird chapter 1 . 3/6/2013
That definitely helps satisfy the one thing I was annoyed at the Avengers movie at. Of course, any annoyance is purely because I like Hawkeye too much to be happy that he was mind-controlled by Loki at the very beginning. Seriously. The very beginning. Awesome, but irritating.
That they never really verbalize it fits well with the whole 'Assassin who can pretty much kill you with a look' vibe.

Loved it! I always thought that, too. His heart wasn't in the fight, I always noticed. Especially considering that he hit Fury center mass instead of between the eyes, nevermind the fact he missed Hill with at least a full clip - and for a guy who never misses, that's pretty glaring evidence he was at least partially in control.

That whole "guns aren't my best weapons" thing is bullshit, the guy is an expert marksman, and that doesn't change just because he switches weapons; if anything, he would be a better marksman with a gun because his range would be so much longer. Glad to see someone else thinks along the same lines that I do!

Thanks for sharing!
Nana Evans chapter 1 . 1/21/2013
Well, he missed Fury and Hill too, so I have to agree with you.

I really liked this story - it was really sweet and subtle and I think it speaks to the subtle vibe set in the movie... Thanks for writing this!
Lena Liz Carter chapter 1 . 6/9/2012
I like the idea of not holding back. The whole story feels very much in character for both of them, especially the ending - no crying, hugging, just a joke and a smile.
