I love the way you write Mycroft and Sherlock's relationship—and don't get me started on the best friend thing. But I can honestly imagine this whole thing happening.
And then it all comes back to the pirate-ship-marriage thing, after all those years.
I want your skills.

This was really good. For every chapter, I loved the whole, "If you asked so and so who their best friend was, they'd say..." The last one, with Mycroft being 40-something, and his brother dead broke my heart. I loved the first chapter too, KIDLOCK for the win! Consulting pirate, I could totally see Sherlock wanting to be that! I loved this.

Mmm... I liked this. It was really good. I normally don't read anything but Johnlock, haha but this caught my eye. I am glad I took the time. It was worth it. :D

The ending was really cute. I like how it took place during Mycroft's birthday especially.

The last chapter made me cry. As an only child, I can never truly relate to sibling stories, but I think there's a part of every human being out there that can understand the - perhaps evoluntionarily necessary - need to protect one's family. Lovely story. :)

Favorite lines:

"The first criminal that refused to crack under interrogation, and he'd poured out the essence of his brother into James Moriarty's willing mouth..." Ooh. As my friend Kate says, "There's an image FOR YOUR ASS." (In American speech, this signifies enthusiasm. Sorry if it means something else in Kiwi.)

"He wondered if that had included him." Wow. Good point. It certainly did not. Never thought about that before.

Also, who but the Holmes boys have grey pinstriped pyjamas? I hope that was in the dossier Mycroft gave Moriarty, or Moriarty didn't get his money's worth.

"He'd always wondered if Sherlock really understood how much he loved him." Awwww. Lovely end. Also, thanks so much for not turning this into Holmescest. For that, you get all the cake that's currently hidden under Mycroft's assistant's desk.

I think your Mycroft is the most wonderful version of them all. As the older sister to a pechulant genius younger sister, I relate with Mycroft very deeply, on the protecting them from the world they don't fit in with. This last chapter made me cry. Bravo.

Beautiful story. I am an older sybling myself, and I can understand something of Mycroft's sense of responsibility for Sherlock, as well as the guilt when you aren't always the hero that your younger brother (or, in my case, sister) looks up to.

You made the entire transition believable to me. Sherlock went from complete adoration of Mycroft, to contempt, then hatred, and then back to a sense of reconciliation. And the characters were very true to their real-life counterparts in the show. So great job!

This chapter was so sweet! And actually so different from other versions of this kind of scenario I read, and I really, really liked it! I thought it was very realistic! Great story!

I thought this was really fitting advice coming from Mycroft, and I loved the last line!
