Arthur got off too easy. He always does. Yea, Merlin lied to him, he's a bit fond of his head remaining on his shoulders. So what.

Maybe Arthur had a right to be hurt/mad for a little while, but then he was the one who betrayed Merlin. He purposefully went out to make something to hurt him, used it on him, and told him he didn't need him anymore. Like some old toy that had been replaced. Merlin really deserved better.

I love the banter between Merlin and Arthur! Their friendship is so pure and they’re adorable idiots. I also like the epilogue a lot. Forgiveness is key.

Because destiny is always a bad excuse and a bad reason, and it can be a little painful when writers end up making it seem like everything Merlin did was down to destiny an nothing more. Merlin is not that shallow. Thank you for posting this!
