I am totally in love with this piece of art. You've written a marvellous story. I'm sure there is a word for such a genre in which your work can be put. I think of this story as a legend, beautiful, moving, gripping and fantastic story of slaves and gods... I love the title, it's not something very special, but it's so perfect and it caught my eye, and it goes well with the 'legend' I think it tells.
The story is very different from what I expected in Torchwood fanfiction - its absolutely unique. I got used to the very down-to-earth stories, maybe not mundane, but grounded in the contemporary reality, where everything is just as in the real world. Here, we have gods and goddesses - at least it feels like it - powerful empires, wealthy and beautiful kings, slaves, great background story referring to the Earth (great!) and love, love, love - strong and passionate, unrequited and maddening and then mutual and so dizzyingly poweful, the emotion know to have driven people to maddness, urged them to overthrow emperors, travel the universe long and wide, fight every beast on the way, it has broken some hearts and strenghtened others, it strated the wars and it ended the wars, divided and united. You've pictured it amazingly well. The romance here is such an intense and ultimately vital thing that I can't find a fault with how some thing seem improbable or just to easy. But it's beautiful, simply beautiful.
I love everything - the expansive universe, millions of planets, empires and kingdoms and variety of races; the love - as a main theme and a main motivation to any activity; wars and diplomacy; beautiful surroundings and lively action; different examples of social division (slaves and soldiers and rulers); great setting (historical backgroud); almost magical powers and mythical creatures. It is combined and ballanced so perfectly and skillfully that it's easy to forgive some things that caught my attention.
Some of the things come to them implausibly easily - how quickly Ianto found Jack, how quickly he was rescued form Czarina, how easy it was for them to start the war.
What else - I believe that you've made Ianto a bit naive, him asking Jack to wage war against every unjustice caused to men without thinking deeply and longly about consequences, possible methods, allies, outcomes, drawbacks and benefits. He became one of the delicate and fragile princesses that the prince (Jack) need to court and protect and love and rescue. However, this resonates deeply with the idea of this romantical hero doing everything to fulfill his beloved one's wishes, plunging headfirst into the conflicts and wars on his lover's whim. But, but, but! He doesn't look like Jack's equal, but I think that he should - and he wouldn't go for less.
Another thing, I saw so much potential in two scenes, where you've cut them short. They could have been so beautiful and moving and heartbreaking. One of them - I think Ianto waaaaay too easily admitted that he was forced to have sex. I can imagine him struggling with it, choking on the words, it's not an easy topic. I think you didn't do him justice here. Another one is when Jack retrieves his memories. I wanted so much to have some insight into his thoughts and feelings, there was so much potential to create powerful emotional scene, I loved the idea that Jack has kept his memories and could access them in that way, it was a lovely idea, but I wanted some raw emotions, agitation and shock and jumbled thoughts. Ah, could have bees so good. Mind you, I'm not saying it was bad.
Because the story IS BRILLIANT!
Final remarks: Oh my... Chapter 14 - You called Jack 'goddess?' Aaaah :D don't you know it's a name for a female deity? That was a shocking thing to discover!
Second thing is that it would look so much better if you wrote numbers with words, not digits. It looks better when you read about a heart shattering into thusands of pieces (instead of 1000). It just feels better, it's more... I don't know, poetical, not just some kind of report. However, 63th century - that is a proper way to write.

Don't worry about the criticism expressed here - it's only that I found the story so perfect and amazing and brilliant and wonderful, that I wanted to point out things that could be better - just to create a masterpiece (for me). Excellent story, don't let anyone tell you differently. You've created a splendid characters and such a terrific universe I've fallen in love with it.

This chapter- ugh my feels. Poor poor Ianto. But even more so Jack. He always has to make te hard decisions that other people don't dare to make, and still they get angry at him for the consequences. Aw baby.
