Mike2101 chapter 18 . 10/19/2014 Okay, now... This isn't a bad place to leave this story, but you DID promise n epilogue. I hope one of my favorite writers will keep her word. (Hint, hint...) So, in reading your A/N, it's obvious you did not care for Dan's iGoodbye. I despised the episode. Aside from writing Freddie as a vacillating douche and Carly as a backstabbing bitch, Dan made the very end so depressing and sad, without any hint of hope. It was filled with way to much unfunny bits: -Gibby's fake head makes an unnecessary and humorless reappearance. -Oh, isn't it hilarious about Freddie's phone case that looks like a purse? Ha ha ha, Dan, another waste of time. -Gibby's weasel? Really? This is the finale of one of TV's finest kids show and Dan fritters away precious moments with Gibby's weasel? The premise held so much promise. Carly seeing her Dad. The decision to move to Italy. A chance to hint at an optimistic future for all the iCarly principals. But no. We go from a phone call hinting that Freddie has been thinking about Sam, wanting to get back together with her; then we see a sneaky Carly quietly slip away from the group downstairs to find Freddie and kiss her best friend's ex-boyfriend, the guy Sam still loved. The final scenes have Carly, Spencer, Sam, and Freddie all dealing with things on their own. Carly is looking at old clips from the webshow. Cut to Spencer, all alone in the empty apartment; you can practically hear the silence echo. Spencer looks forlorn and lonely as he slowly sits on the couch. Then we see Freddie. Sad, depressed Freddie. He, too, is alone of course. The shot of him in the hallway of Bushwell emphasizes just how despondent and at a loss he is, as he slumps against the wall. In no small way this reminds me of the scene of Freddie in the hallway of iReunite With Missy. Except here, Freddie is truly depressed. That final scene of Sam is the saddest and most depressing. We see poor Sam alone on her motorcycle, on a dark and fairly deserted road. Everything about that scene emphasizes the loneliness and isolation she must feel. It's night. Sam is wearing black. The road is empty, and as the camera pulls up and away from the scene, we see the view expand as Sam drives off. More and more of the empty road is shown, further telling us just how alone Sam is as the motorcycle grows smaller. What a pitiful way to end a comedy. There is absolutely no hopeful vibe about it at all. No hints at anyone being happy. But Dan Schneider did go a long way to redeem himself with the Sam & Cat episode #TheKillerTunaJump. But I like your story far, far better. |
Mike2101 chapter 15 . 10/19/2014 Something you've captured here that isn't said explicitly, but is still conveyed well: being a mother is NOT a matter of just biology. No, motherhood... let's say PARENTHOOD (to include Freddie as a Daddy-figure) is about the time after childbirth when the hard work and self sacrifice truly begins. Melanie is little more than an incubator, a vessel bring the unborn child to term. She gave up her baby when it was too difficult. Sam, OTOH, turned her life upside down, rearranging her work and personal life, so that baby Charlie would be cared for and loved. While under the law, Melanie would have an opportunity to argue for custody or visitation, the law in all fifty states is pretty clear: whatever is in the best interests of the child will be the decision. I could find myself wavering a bit as Melanie first tried to persuade Sam for a child visit. But you did well in capturing Melanie's underlying selfishness. Sam's response to this continues to be in the best interests of Charlie. Melanie has no business seeing Charlie at this point. I hope that Sam & Freddie's attorney will seek out Eric, the baby's father, to seek paternal permission for adoption. |

Love Seddie chapter 15 . 11/15/2013 I honestly don't know what to say about the ending of that show, especially how they ended it just didn't make any sense. I've haven't watched icarly in a while since ILY and honestly from what people have been saying about the whole entire episode itself I'm glad I didn't watched it. Needless too say i do still support Seddie and hope one day they do become endgame, but I do have to agree with you that I defintely like fanfic Freddie better than the real Freddie on the show. I hope you update the epilogue beacuse this story is really good! |
