Nice little one shot. I liked the Ruby Spears Toon because it kept Protoman bad instead of just having him a loner hero like the games did (And having Bass fill the role he did on the show) I'm glad you kept him loyal to Wiley here, instead of turning him 'good' like so many Ruby-Spears show fanfics do.

For some reason, turning Proto Man's constant offer around on him never occurred to me as a way to get back at him, no doubt because I would have used it just plain to get him back, even though I know that won't work.

Seriously, though, that was genius. Not only does Mega Man stand his ground, but now Proto's got something to consider. Sure, he says he'll destroy Mega Man, but what's he thinking, really? :D

And the best part? Mega Man still won't give up on his brother. I'm always happy and proud to hear that.

Nice insight to what it must have been like between the flashback in The Beginning and the attack on the airport. I also like how Proto makes mention that not ALL of humanity is worth protecting and tried to use that is his first attempted to turn his brother to his cause.

Good work again! It feels like it could easily fit right in with the R-S cannon, It even looks like it could fit in with either the Recut-verse or the Defender-verse. hee-hee!

(btw, this has nothing to do with MM, but when I saw the title, the first thing that popped in my mind was the evasion music from Metal Gear Solid 1, also titled "Encounter" :) )

Hey, nice filling in the gaps of what must have transpired as Mega Man's and Proto Man's first fight! Interesting insights about reprogramming. I also like battle of wits, and it's interesting that Mega Man was the one who fired first. I know on DA you said you thought Mega was a little angsty in this, but I didn't think so at all. He's just concerned about doing the right thing, but he's aware of what sacrifices might need to made. And a cameo by Doc! How nice. :)

Very nice. I loved the dialogue between Mega and Proto, and Ruby-Spears stories are sadly lacking. There's also not so many stories on what heroes are like just before they start getting experienced. You captured Mega's thoughts very well, particularly his anxiety and inexperience which makes him seem a lot more human than most writers usually embellish upon. His thoughts towards the other Robot Masters and Proto Man were very detailed also, showing his conflict between doing the right thing, and wanting to help them/bring them back. Excellent story.
