I really enjoyed reading it. Unlike other stories I've explored with Team Fortress, you didn't actually pair the two. You started with them hating each other's guts but then it gradually turned into understanding and mutual respect. Poor Medic though...
But, nonetheless, I really enjoyed it and I look forward to more stories if you are still making them.

Awww, this is way too cute. Some team bonding. And I understand why you didn't include "more" of the ship in it. When you heart's just not into the ship or you just don't see it but you try your hardest. That's what I feel like when I see Heavy/Medic. I personally don't think they're shippable. But eh, to each their own. 10/10 work on this, I enjoyed reading it even if it did make me sad and happy at the same time. Thank you for writing this :)

The Guard Dog isn't canon, right? I remember him from other fanfictions, though. And I love when different fanfics from different people have similarities like these ones :)
Related to Shovel, I know what is it to have an imaginary friend who becomes rather an enemy over time. I can feel Soldier's pain and fury.
Finally, I like the idea that medic was not a nazi, but a victim instead. I can't imagine him being a bad person. Crazy, yes, very crazy, but not evil.

I didn't expect this to be the one of best TF2 fanfiction I ever read, but it is. The characterization is incredible and believable, you added so much deepness to their characters without taking what we already have in canon. The drama was perfectly written, poignant and beautiful, sometimes subtle and some others intense, I was misty eyed in several scenes.

I...I don't know what to say... it was so sad. But very beautiful. Everyone always regarded Medic as a Nazi but his past in this story was different and I like it.

I’m over a year late with my review, but I really wanted to say just how much I enjoyed this story and how utterly underrated it is.
Honestly the simple best characterization of Soldier I have ever read, as I find it particularly irksome when authors simply have him shouting insults at people (however in character that may be) it’s nice to see him being treated more ‘seriously’ if that’s a term I can use.
As for Medic, loved the background you gave him. The twist brought my heart up into my chest, and the scene with the amputation had me leaning right up into my laptop screen. Fantastic job, arguably my favourite one-chapter story on this entire site.

I absoulutly loved this, one of the best Soldier-fics I have read. I liked the twist too, and the attention to detail. Great job.

Possibly one of the best fanfics I've ever read, judging the quality of writing, consistency of characters, and a rare realism that is hard to come by in the TF2 fandom.

Wow, this was a lot sadder than I thought it would be. The Medic being a concentration camp survivor was an ingenious concept, as was the Soldier's insane attatchment to his shovel.
