starlineshine chapter 1 . 4/16/2015
God. This is so beautiful. How did you even write this? This is perfect. I absolutely love this story. Rebekah has always been one of my favorite characters and then this fic and. Wow. Amazing job.
allisonarrgent chapter 1 . 3/23/2014
So I just realized that I have this bookmarked on AO3 but I never reviewed and favorited on here which is absolutely ridiculous because this is one of the best, if not the best, Rebekah/Klaus fics I have ever read. I've re-read it an unreasonable number of times in the past year or so and I just don't know how you do it, really, because your prose is breath-taking and your characterizations, especially your portrayal of Rebekah as well as Klaus through her eyes, are raw and tragic and beautiful all at once and I'm still in awe of everything that this piece is. There are countless lines that ring so painfully true and are written so well that I want to quote them all in this review and everywhere else I possibly can because they're just that brilliant, but I'll refrain because that would involve me quoting pretty much all 9500 words of this. Please never stop writing, you're without a doubt one of the most talented writers on this site! xx
bisexualklausmikaelson chapter 1 . 5/30/2013
Deserves an award. I adored the comparison between Rebekah and Caroline (I always thought they oddly looked alike).
Guest chapter 1 . 1/23/2013
This is awesome.. great writing..
thecivilunrest chapter 1 . 11/29/2012
Holy crap. W O W. You just wrote them so incredibly well that I kind of can't even deal with this. It's just beautiful. Your word choice is sublime and this whole story is wonderful. The end especially. I just... don't know what to say, this is that perfect.
een nihc chapter 1 . 7/12/2012
Great insight and emotions. I love the way you potrayed Rebekah and Niklause here. It almost made me feel sorry for her. The last part reminds me of the chilling story in "Monster" by Naoki Urasawa.
aesthetic promises chapter 1 . 6/3/2012
absolutely stunning. the vivid language and descriptions, the historical tidbits, the amazing imagery - all added to the depth of the relationship between klaus and rebekah. definitely one of the jewels of the tvd fandom.
angelxofxmine chapter 1 . 4/24/2012
sad in an interesting way.
missing-in-venice chapter 1 . 4/4/2012
I know this a little late, but this story is freaking amazing.
Lyly2003 chapter 1 . 3/31/2012
I know that many people would want them dead, but I love the originals. And by original I mean Rebekah and Klaus. I love their love / hate relationship. I find it fascinating! And in fact, every time I watch the series all the time Klaus put to the test Rebekah pretending that he felt nothing for her and for their families. And every time when someone asks "Why?" Why is it suporte to fai treated like that. She said "This is my brother." As if this was a response to any issues. And I supose that it is, because Rebekah really loves his brother. And the worst part is that it seems that the more she tries to hate it, the more she feels obliged to stay with him. She may say she hates him and even try to kill him, at the end she returns to him. Yet.

You are perfectly able to describe the feelings that tear relative to its Klaus. This is absolutely maginifique and details on the different historical periods make it all even more real. I éttone you do not have more rewiews because it is by far the best fiction on Rbekah Klaus and I read.
Grumpr chapter 1 . 2/22/2012
This is one of the most amazing stories I have ever read. You really captured the emotions and feelings of Klaus and Rebekah, the way they can never really stay away from each other, because they have no one else. The only ones likely to live as long as they do is the rest of their family, who they have stopped talking to.

I also really like your summary: This family is a cage. Everytime I hear Rebekah's ''He is my brother.'' that's all I can think of. It's sad in a way that no matter how hard she tries, she can never truly hate him, because he is all she has left. It's a cage she can't escape from, because actually she doesn't want to escape.

Great story.
Advocatus Diaboli Emeritus chapter 1 . 1/23/2012
Powerful ending. Exceptional insight. It is just all so, so good. You are an extraordinary writer, and I commend you for your captivating writing style and the way you managed to capture Rebekah's lifelong state of mind so impeccably.

Don't understand why this doesn't have more reviews, it is one of the best written pieces here and deserves to be heaped with appraisal. But then again, there's not much left to say when all has been said.
zap.eizzap chapter 1 . 1/18/2012
This was truly beautiful story. You made me love Rebekah and wish for happiness. Thank you for writing it.
Lelderkin chapter 1 . 1/18/2012
This is so wonderful. Exactly the kind of thing I've been wanting to read about the Originals and that hint of Klaus/Caroline - an explanation for this older-than-old creatures falling for little blips on their radars, Carolines and Stefans who they can kill just as easily as if they were human.

I loved every bit. The beginning, what Rebekah would have done if she knew Elena pitied her. The girl, the first one they turned into a vampire. The way Klaus reverently said her name. Rebekah fighting a war. Searching for doppelgangers. Making friends with Katherine. The death of her family. Always, always with Klaus. So beautiful. The feeling of loneliness, of being alone in the world except for that one person, is so wonderfully portrayed throughout this.

I couldn't choose just one favorite line so here are my top two:

Her lot is life in its direst, cruellest sense. Her lot is blood and slaughter and shadows and death. Her lot is immortality.

Such a perfect description, being trapped as a vampire. Gorgeous.

And:

He smiles easily now, and it seems that now he is always smiling, a smile that twists just as easily into a snarl. There is a new kind of cruelty etched into the lines of his face.

I loved this observation of Klaus. I love the way she sees him - I mean, she's probably the person that knows him best in the world so I love the way she sees him, the way she notices how things change as the centuries pass.

In short, this was absolutely perfect and I loved it so much. Definitely hope to see you write more in the future! Favoriting, and putting you on alerts!
