I've always been interested in what happened between these two during the Games, especially since we aren't really told anything about it; it's all implied.
In my head, this is what I imagined. I don't think Gale is callous enough to use Madge as nothing but replacement for Katniss, his feelings for Katniss are perhaps stronger because in Gale's head they're more tangible than what he feels for Madge. But there is definitely something there which makes everything all the more confusing. Madge, being the wonduful, caring and observant person she is, understands all this. If only she lived so that Gale could be with her at the end of MJ.

I've never seen Gale/Madge done this way before, but I was very pleased with this story. It was fluffy and angsty at the same time, a good combination that left a bittersweet feeling. Nice portrayal of Gale's softer side, by the way. It's usually impossible to envision him as anything but a simmering pot of anger, but your characterization was fabulous.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read. Now I'm left wondering how their relationship began and what's in store for their future. _ The Gagde fandom needs more writers like you~!
