Exllcent fic

I have a soft spot for fics that explore Belle figuring out what was going on, mainly because even canon showed it! I like to headcanon that even as she knew the Beast was cursed, she decided to let nature take its course.

"No wonder he had shouted at her for intruding … though that still didn't make it right." Something about this sentence is so very, very Belle to me. And it seems very in-character for her to be angry at whoever caused the curse. I like the way that she thinks through the events and realizes how she should feel toward them and the people involved.

The only thing I'd suggest would be to take out the parenthetical statement about Lumiere's "white lie." It takes the narration out of Belle's point of view, and I think any informed reader would be able to figure out that Lumiere is lying anway :) You could try to show the fact that he's covering up a lie - make him a little more flustered or something.

This is very well written! I can absolutely picture this happening in my head. I'd never really considered the fact before that Belle would be clever enough to figure things out, but now I'm mentally smacking myself for my own blindness. This was excellent. The characterizations were spot on too.

I can't pick just one favorite line from this. It has so many great ones. I always thought Belle might have been working it out. :)

Beautiful fic, and you bring up a lot of good points. I laughed at the "do I have to kiss him" line. I bet she wouldn't mind the idea so much towards the end of the film.

I completely agree that Belle would figure it out. She's not stupid, she's observant, and she clearly likes fairy tales. Usually when I envision it she keeps this revelation to herself, but this is a good imagining of how it would go as well. A nicely written little piece.

the amount of introspection you have in this piece is amazing- I love the way you fleshed out Belle and put new insight into Beast's character. masterfully done!
