I don't know the characters too well, but this was really sweet 3 The way you explored Barrett's fears and Dorothy's comforting him in her quiet way was nice. Just a small tip: using the same word to begin paragraphs that are close together tends to look clumsy sometimes. Otherwise, I enjoyed this very much

This is all right. The dialogue is a little clunky, but the descriptions are good. I especially like the exploration of Barrett's relationship with Byron, and how he's worried that'll affect his own relationship with his child. The game leaves all those things unexplored despite their rich potential, so it's always good to see fanfics that do it instead. Good work.
