Oh. Wow. Why don't you have a million reviews for this? This was just so meta and yet still telling a story. So utterly chilling but enchanting and captivating at the same time. Amazing!

Very well written, unique and imaginitive- I think that after all this time, the detective and his doctor are entities that we can't understand and don't have a name for yet. I always think that that's how the greatest characters come to be- they choose a person and tell them their story. Sherlock and John may not have picked the right author, but other writers have listened and written for them. Like you and me :) Even if you've done a far better job:L That's why SherlockBBC is so magical, it's two of the most beloved characters of all time, but told in a way that's fast and electric an focuses on more than just The Work. I think ACD was a bit too much like Sherlock in that- all cases, no emotions or character development other than Mary (Sue) Morstan and John's marriage. Us fanfic writers tend to be more like John, love and affection are important for us in our tales. Moffat and Gatiss listen to them both- there's much more to the story than just the Work, but it's not a sappy love fest either. Maybe there will be others one day who can do better, but at the moment I'd say that the consulting doctor and his detective are pretty well chuffed ;)

You've written an absolutely beautiful piece here- the premise itself is wonderful, but the language that you've used has just made it bloody perfect. I was actually breathless when I finished- that's just how #$&& amazing it was.

You took the idea that characters and gods and legends historical figures are real, and continue to be real and are strong and continue to be strong because of the stories we tell. That with out the stories they'd be nothing and we'd be less.
