Reviews for Imladris Revisited
Logan chapter 35 . 9/25/2015
I...am in love with this story. Freaking in love...like...I can't...form coherent thoughts. I literally laughed out loud, wept, felt despair in my stomach and gladness. You...YOU. I was almost heartbroken when I realized that I had read the final chapter.
Leafbucket chapter 35 . 6/25/2015

UCJIXYI chapter 30 . 1/6/2013
"That was very exciting," observed Pippin. Merry agreed. They hurried back to the dining hall.

"What has happened?" asked Arwen, "did you see?"

"Yes," said Pippin. "It was very exciting." Merry nodded.

LMFAO Holy Shit that was brilliant!
UCJIXYI chapter 10 . 1/6/2013
You poor thing Elrond! Don't worry, you have fan girls that would last you a lifetime if no one else loves you!

satismagic chapter 1 . 9/10/2004
Hi Kalurien,

although I don’t know if you are still interested in your stories at , I want to write a review about your story, because I enjoyed it immensely.

Your writing is an inspiration!

Preliminaries:

Fun factors from the beginning were the ratings and their reasons at the beginning of each chapter.

But here comes the longest and most detailed review I have ever written, because I admire your story so much:

-the characters:

I love how you presented Arwen, as a charming, but a little spoilt young lady, who is used to having her own way. Her relationship with her father is perfectly constructed from the first to the last chapter, very loving and very realistically presented. You could have done more with Aragorn, but the scene with Aragorn asking to be allowed to call Elrond “Adar
Gershwhen chapter 30 . 11/10/2003
Somehow it doesn't seem just to leave a short comment after the last chapter - given how much I have enjoyed this story. But I've read through it in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a huge Elrond fan, and believe that you did a very credible job with his portrayal. I enjoyed the OFC, as she added to his character and did not take over the story.

Thanks for sharing, it was quite enjoyable.
Diadora chapter 17 . 7/25/2003
Okay, now I need to know what she said!

Perhaps you could whisper? lol

GREAT story!
Delphinidae chapter 35 . 6/6/2003
Wow, 35 chapters... great job! I liked this one and the epilogue, it was really funny and a nice relief after the last chapter. And I'd say a nice ending before the beginning of the sequel. _

Alright, I've had the urge to write this since I started the rereading... sorry for the length and rambling of it...

Well, this is the first long story (that is, 5 chapters) I've managed to review each chapter of- my apologies if that means that my lack of practice in reviewing online (or fanfiction in general) left me saying things best left unsaid and/or completely what you might have preferred to hear. (Especially those annoying little "you forgot this period" things I put in. I stopped that after a while because it felt stupid to be pointing out teeny little typos when there was that whole great story to pay attention to- though I hope it's a good thing for the author if all the "negative" critiquing is basically "you missed a spot." _;) I must also apologize for the lateness of all these reviews... I started reading this around the time chapter 14 or 15 was out, I think, and didn't have the guts or the brains to sit down and respond to it until a couple weeks ago. X_x I hope it's a "better late than never" thing.

Anyway, I think I want to sum up what I think about the story as a whole and all that... first of all, your writing is incredible. I was left countless times while reading each chapter thinking, "Whoa! How did she think of this? How does she have the patience to write like this?" Everything from having lessons and instructions one character gave another from beginning to end, not omitting a single quote or detail from the dialogue, to the simple things such as saying how a character said something or the way one touched another. This story seriously would have had my last creative writing class in awe, jaws dropped, just for the writing in this story alone.

Secondly, I'm always impressed when someone writes a story of a nature I tend not to like and I like it anyway. I tend not to like romance, sex, pretty girl characters (often golden/red haired) who can sing exceptionally well, Elrond falling in love with a non-Celebrian character, etc... yet I was able to shrug and say "Who cares if I hate those things? What happens next?" while reading this story. I don't mean to imply that I'm some sort of authority on stories and that what impresses *me* is automatically good, but I do think one sign of a good writer (or a good story) is when they write something that someone who generally doesn't like the type likes this time.

Thirdly, your handling of the characters is excellent. Not only do they seem incredibly realistic to me, but though your interpretations and portrayals of already existing characters weren't exactly how people might tend to interpret them, you did a very good job of backing up your interpretations of these characters. I might not like the idea of any Elves like Gil-galad being the bad people they are in your story(ies), but at least you've made it so that I can accept them in them. You've even good at using them well after having explained them- Elrond's history with Gil-galad might not be a nice one to know, but the job you did at explaining why he acts certain ways was superb, and the way you had him act did a great job of advancing the plot and character development and making an interesting, emotionally engaging story to read.

There are several other things I would point out that I liked about this story beyond the above things, but I got an hour of sleep last night and my mind just completely blanked because of it. _

Sorry if that was a long waste of time to read. _; This story has been a pleasure to read and review... onto the next one! *cracks knuckles*
Delphinidae chapter 34 . 6/6/2003
Incredible chapter, though so sad... I like how the wedding was described, it was very good at looking like it *should* have been a happy thing, yet still so depressing at the same time. I pity Elrond, it's like every time one of his close family members has to provide some benefit the race of Men, he loses them and has to live on with that for the rest of his immortal Elven life. At least in this case, he's not alone...
Delphinidae chapter 33 . 6/6/2003
Haha, if someone made a statue like that around here, they'd get sued for sexual harrassment of... well, half the people in town... _;

Anyway, this chapter was full of emotions of both extremes... I think a good job was done of showing both Elrond's pain and Arwen's excitement.

I remember saying in my review for chapter 18 "Arwen doesn't seem to be very wise in this story" and wondering right as I hit the "submit" button if that was something stupid I didn't want to slip out from my fingertips- but remembering that while reading kind of made this part stand out:

"Well, it still seems as though you could ask someone else. It would be one thing if we were talking about Gwindor, but we are not, we are talking about your father, it seems awkward."

"Mothers usually tell their daughters, correct?"

"Yes, of course," said Culurien.

"Well, they would be talking about the daughter's father, would they not?" stated Arwen firmly.

-well, even if I didn't see Arwen as being wise with what she said around which people earlier in the story, I can see from this that she seems to know how to use what she knows to get what she wants at least. _

And I'm glad I reread this... somehow I'd completely forgotten about that dream. O_o
Delphinidae chapter 32 . 6/6/2003
I feel like a bit of a suck-up when I say this more than once or twice for the same story, but, wow...

I'm always completely amazed when people can write out a whole scene of characters giving each other descriptive directions, such as when Elrond was telling Halbarad where to go to find Aragorn. I'm also envying how well you described the standard Arwen made as well as the scene in which she presents it and Elrond reacts to it. I also like the way Elladan and Elrohir were acting and speaking in this chapter.
Delphinidae chapter 31 . 6/6/2003
A lovely chapter, I could almost feel and see the cool dusk as I was reading. Do they have phoenixes in Middle-Earth or any of its tales? *shrug* Why not, I liked the comparison of the sword to one. :P

“I doubt that I have lived up to all the esteem you regard me with,” said Elrond, sadly. “I knew not how to be a good father; I had no teacher, no guidance.” - Such a significant line in the story, and I want to say something about how it makes me feel, but I can't really think of the words. A great line of Elrond's, certainly, and very saddening...

“There is nothing that would please me more,” answered Elrond, tears in his own eyes. “I only wish you had asked years ago.”

And then the exchange:

“I wished to, “said Aragorn, “but I was far too much in awe of you then.”

“And now?”

“Now,” replied Aragorn, “I simply love you, Adar.”

Elrond closed his eyes. At that moment he felt a large piece of the pain he had carried inside himself for so long, heal and disappear, at last.

Wow... it took a reread or two to see what I suppose is the real meaning in it, but well worth the energy or reading...

I kind of wondered what Culurien was thinking seeing her own cousin go off with the Company (I always wonder what the people left back home think as they see their family and loved ones go off on a dangerous mission), but I wouldn't suggest adding it... this seems much more Elrond's chapter than Culurien's, so it probably wouldn't fit well.

And excellent ending line, too... leaves one wondering, what goes through Elrond's mind as he shuts out the darkness of the outside world like that, knowing that he is not the one to do much more to fight it?
