earthdragon chapter 1 . 10/29/2019 I found this by accident and it is absolutely brilliant. You capture the different personalities of Oropher, Thranduil and Legolas perfectly. Wonderful story. |
LuteofLorien chapter 1 . 11/21/2018 Believe me, I am all about the shameless love for the house of Oropher! This was really lovely, and you use symmetry and contrast to create a wonderful counterbalance between the two scenarios. I like that Thranduil’s ‘yes’ and Legolas’ ‘no’ to the same question are both heartfelt and considered, and both spring from a deep filial bond and unconditional love for their father. And this gives a beautiful insight into Thranduil both as a younger, insecure Prince, and the older, wiser King who kept his promise for all those years. Fantastic characterizations, well done! |

silivren el sila chapter 1 . 1/28/2016 What an interesting story...I love father-son story. Especially Thranduil-Legolas. I admit i seldom read father son Oropher-Thranduil but I love their interaction at here. :D Oh, Thranduil was born in the First Age at Doriath. So while King Thingol was killed and Doriath sunk, Thranduil was there too. Ere Lindon, they settled in Beleriand. Sorry if I was a mistook information. |

TolkienScribe chapter 1 . 10/26/2013 You like my characterization of Legolas and Thranduil. I like yours, lol. I like the way you had portrayed Legolas and Thranduil. It is really unique and it is quite amusing to see Thranduil softened way with Legolas while he had been brought up more... sternly (not sure if that is a proper word) by Oropher. Oropher's characterization did surprise me but I think it fits with how you brought this story along. I can tell that Oropher was troubled and that he had wanted to reassure himself that both his son and his kingdom will continue to survive after his death. Legolas' portrayal was spot-on but what touched me the most was Thranduil's manner. I mean, his personality pracitically changed from one scenario to the next. You practically showed his maturity and that actually brought the story together. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to find out that this was the only work you had done in LOTR, but I guess every author has one certain topic he or she particularly enjoys. The rest just becomes drabbles, though good ones. Well, this is becoming a long review, and I suspect you will get an email where half of the review will be cut short and you will have to come online to see it all, lol. Ah well. Best regards, Phoenix |
