This is the most unique outcome for the Bell test, ever. Lol. I also have never seen a Kakashi depicted that resents Naruto for his father’s Sacrifice. Nice take!

A great scene-setter.

This brought to mind the fact that Naruto did paint the Hokage monument while in his usual attire and without the ability to use his chakra to stick to vertical surfaces, he also knew almost nothing of seals beyond that they exist, so all together that means he carried several paint cans to the top of the mountain after walking through town (please note: a noted prankster wearing bright clothes and carrying several cans of paint screams up to no good), somehow managed to paint all four heads, and then evaded pursuit once he was finally seen. Now, keeping in mind he did that and was only caught by someone he likes makes me really wonder which version is more accurate to that setup: your version or canon? It really makes me wonder if Kishimoto understood what he was doing there because the only way that should’ve been possible is if no one in the entire village was looking since even one Jonin or Anbu being notified at any point while Naruto was still painting would’ve been able to get to him before he could get away. Beyond that they would’ve had to have been ordered to leave him to it, so it really only works if the Hokage made a law that says anytime Naruto is in the process of pranking he must be left alone...and okay, Hiruzen might’ve done just that, but why?

Anyway, what it comes down to is the young academy student who pulled off that prank was better than any version Kishimoto showed us after that point at acting like a real ninja, so thanks for giving us this short, yet pointed, reminder that Naruto is more than he seems at face value, or rather, that he should’ve been quite exceptional if only his writer had taken the time to think things through.

Absolutely love this little idea... Would be interesting how more of the naruto story plays with this setup

Funny story, short and nice.

The reactions everyone would have to the three being sent back to the Academy must be glorious. Would also look bad on the teachers with the whole insisting on who the 'best' of that year were, and not for the good reasons Naruto himself suggested in this oneshot. Kakashi would probably end up showing up late. Either that or getting dragged in by Iruka.
