Reviews for The When and the How: A Bone to Pick
samiam004 chapter 32 . 5/4
Your Gordon Gordon is so on point! Looking forward to the rest of the story.
Gailuvspurple chapter 119 . 4/21
I'm never sure if I should review older stories. I started reading this yesterday and since I'm enjoying it, I figured I would let you know that I like your story.
Guest chapter 48 . 12/12/2019
Hannah is way too omniscient... like when would she have EVER interacted with Rebecca enough to know of her regrets? And I also never got the feeling Booth told her all that much about his past.. you've made her into your mouthpeice as an audience member giving Booth a kick in the 'right' direction. But its become unbelievable at this point.
Guest chapter 225 . 11/8/2019
I love how you wrote this whole interaction! This was well done, and this is a topic that is very near and dear to my heart. This whole flashback and self-blaming actually falls under the umbrella of Moral Injury (I just learned this term in the last couple of years so if you know this already just ignore me). It is a bit deeper than PTSS as it involves going against your very core beliefs in no-win situations in trauma, commonly combat or abusive situations.
navnit chapter 215 . 7/14/2019
Tchotchkes and chutzpah? What vocabulary! Coincidently including LGBT characters in this story doesn't seem as forced as is in the norm. Well done!
navnit chapter 213 . 7/13/2019
I envy your faith. As an atheist myself I sometimes wish I had the blind trust in something greater than me that could guide me and something that would give me hope.

Your knowledge astounds me. Psychology? Religion? Science? Every topic you talk about seems to be either well researched or even personally experienced. As a writer myself I do find the need to research about topics important but you give the term research a whole new meaning.

Still not tired of this monster of a fanfiction. Reading this is sort of like my own personal therapy session. You are making me confront things that I never would have thought about. Strange the places you find answered, isn't it?
navnit chapter 182 . 7/11/2019
Fanfiction. I have been reading it since 2007. I have read tons of fics from tons of writers from tons of different fandoms. And I can say whole heartedly, with conviction that this is hands down the most amazing, most openly cathartic, most genuinely inspiring piece of writing I have ever come across.

I found myself smiling halfway through Chapter 182 and realised that it's been happening unconsciously way before that. Normally I would scoff at the thought of a writer dragging describing the events of essentially a week in 800K words, but for this fic? I feel like non of those words were wasted.

I...

There are no more words that I can use to describe how heartwarming this tale is. You know the feeling of hopelessness you get when you watch these amazing characters be with someone other than each other on the show? The unexplainable anger and heartache you feel for these two when you know that they belong together? I feel like this story is a balm to those feelings.

You are Extraordinary. Thank You.

Okay, okay, okay. First off, let me just say that this was the best fanfic I’ve ever read. It was so emotional and you have an incredible ability to put yourself inside the characters. I have read many fanfics which had a good story, but the characters were never really there. I have tried countless times to write my own fanfics to fill in some of the blanks left by Hart and the writers of Bones, but I simply cannot become the characters the way you can. It is fabulous.

I started watching Bones after the series was already over. It would have been January of this year when I first watched a rerun of The Brain In The Bot (Season 12). I instantly fell in love with the characters and the stories and couldn’t get enough of it. I bought the box set of Bones so I have every episode on DVD.

After watching up to The Change In The Game, I realized that the show was missing such an important part. How did Booth love Hannah, propose to her, get rejected and then end up with Brennan after Vincent died so soon? There was so much they didn’t sort out. I couldn’t believe it.

Then I came across this incredible story. It seemed so real, like I was watching it on the TV. This, to me, wasn’t just a fanfic. It really happened. The plot and the romance in this story continues to make my heart beat a little louder. It was so freakin fantastic and I hope you are aware of how incredible of an author you really are.

I understand exactly what you meant when you said you needed to get the rest of the story out at the beginning of this final chapter. It’s like the words are in your head and are screaming to get out. With so many other stories floating around in your head, and then everything in the real world as well, it’s no surprise that the story ended so abruptly. The case you created was so thrilling and complex. The characters you created (Larrinaga was my absolute favorite) so diverse. It was a great story.

I know you’ve been out of touch with this story for a while and I know it must be hard to get back into it. But, I can't help but wonder about a few things. 1. Did Booth and Brennan go back to Philly and stay with Enrique and Carmen again? To tell them about the case and their relationship? 2. How did Angela react when she found out Brennan and Booth were together and had fooled them all? 3. What was Brennan's original reaction when she found out she was pregnant? Booth was obviously enthralled when he was told, but what about Bones?

Anyways. I know it’s probably too much to ask for just one more chapter. I’m crossing my fingers, but I know fully well that it’s wishful thinking. You haven’t had to focus on this story for a long while now. But, I have to ask. Just one more chapter? Just to finish things up?

Don’t ever forget how amazing of a writer you are. Whether you can get back into the groove of this story again or not I won't know. But, again, never forget how much skill it takes to be able to do what you do. I’m putting you at the top of my list between James Patterson and Nicholas Sparks. Get it? Because you mixed their two genres in such a captivating fashion that there was no where else you belonged. I’m very happy now, knowing everything that went on between Booth and Bones.

You should be proud of this story

Interesting twist that the WA sheriff knew the case that quickly.

Typo to mention: "I assume mom's the word until we are 100% sure?" The phrase is "mum's the word."
Dw.618 chapter 89 . 4/2/2019
Wow...you must have had to do so much scientific research for these last few chapters!
Julie SBXMomX chapter 240 . 4/2/2019
Thanks so much for finishing your story. I thouroughly enjoyed it. I wish you all the best in your writing endeavors and hope to have a chance to read more of your work in the future.

Where did you get all of this information about burping?
Dw.618 chapter 61 . 4/1/2019
Haha! A beer and a bag of frozen peas! Loved the "see you in my dreams" line.
Dw.618 chapter 60 . 4/1/2019
Love her sleep talking. Especially the "Booth is mine, Hannah" line from chapter 59. I really love Carmen! She's EXACTLY who Bones needed to talk to!
Dw.618 chapter 55 . 4/1/2019
I can imagine Booth standing outside the door trying to control his mind...and then pretending to swat away a bee (Really, Booth, is that the best you can do? Carmen will see right thru that!)

Loving this playful side of B&B!

One typo to mention: "Agent Booth, Temp #wasn't# you to bring in her suitcase," says Carmen" should be "...wants you to bring in..."
