Poor old Sirius, locked up in that gloomy place. Both he and Fudge were very in character, and I think this is great.

This is one of the best stories I've read about Fudge's inspection of Azkaban. I loved the bit about Sirius wanting Fudge to say hello to Bellatrix for him.

This was a very good story on so many levels.

To go right to the end the finish was spot on. We all know what happened next, so you cut it very well. I think the temptation, for me, would have been to have Fudge trying to think about what happened and what it meant.

Your Fudge, a character we don't see enough of, didn't do that. that was another thing you got right. You showed him for what he was, an adequate administrator who could only think inside the box.

McDowelll was good too. The resigned air of somebody who knows they've reach their career plateau, the sense he's as stuck there as his charges, almost a feeling he knows they have to try to get on with each other.

Some lovely descriptions, too - even down to the colour of the paint. That's the sort of little touch that lifts a story to a higher level.

Final one. "the fearful anxiety that jittered in his stomach like flesh eating butterflies" Wonderful piece of imagery.
