Just reached the end and I'm crying I'm crying so hard I can barely see the screen why is john dead John can't be dead he doesn't do that

While I can understand the argument that Sherlock would have locked off his emotions and tried to focus solely on work, I still believe that Sherlock would have visited John at least once. He would have wanted to see for himself; he would have wanted to make sure John wasn't in pain and was taken care of. He wouldn't have abandoned him without that certainty, even if he was told there was no hope.

This was beautiful. I can certainly imagine Sherlock being confounded by death, particularly John's. Really nicely done, I especially liked the ending at the church

Ah! Heart-wrenching and sad and beautiful! I love paternal Lestrade. If you have any lingering doubts about your depiction of Catholicism, let me say you did it well (I have been Catholic my whole life and would not change it). I have not thought of John being Catholic before, but I can see that with a hectic life with Sherlock and in the army, the ritual of the mass would be comforting, as would the hope of rising again to a better afterlife.
Once again, lovely story! Even if it did make me very sad...

No John. The world SHOULD end. The world without Sherlock and John . . . it's just . . . not done. This was heart wrenching because I know that John SHOULD have pulled through. If Sherlock had gone to visit him, would John have pulled through, do you think?
