*speechless silence*

Yeah, sorry. Not very eloquent. But then there are times when it is the only suitable response. I was shocked to speechlessness by a few things here.

First, that was some absolutely incredible story-telling skill. And, for me, there is a massive difference between being a writer and being a story-teller. That was a spectacular combination.

Secondly, there was the fact that this concept for a fic was awesomely creative. I can say without exaggeration that I've now read thousands of fics in this fandom. I've long ago lost count of how many were Watson-based explorations into his past that revolved around angst and nightmares and vaguely referenced conversations.

This was a portrayal of a man who lived through a horror and came out the other side. This was the side of Dr. Watson many of us suspected, but rarely get to see. More importantly, it was not the vision of a broken man tormented by his past. It came off as the story of a man who lived through hell, but would not let it break him.

Blast it! I'm not even able to accurately convey the sight through my eyes when I read this. Sorry. In any case, I hope you get my meaning.

Thirdly, silence not only suited the situation due to shock value; but it took me several moments to process just how much of an impact this story really had on me. Vivid imagination aside, it deserved the respect of a few moments of silence. Not many things tend to impact me on an emotional level. This being told in a rather coldly blunt and straightforward manner gave it such a touch of authenticity that it was both chilling and inspiring.

I'm sure there are several other things I could bumble about here trying to describe (and failing epically so far); but I will spare you that. lol

So, all that's really left to say is thank you so very, very much for this. It is now my single favorite glimpse into Watson's past. I greatly look forward to reading more of your writing.

Wow. Another amazing story.
Spockologist chapter 1 . 4/26/2011
Whoa. That was amazing. Everything was so vivid. And Talbot, oh, that makes me feel sick.

This story seems so real. I could honestly count it as part of Watson's history.

I hope those young men learned something from Watson's narrative. I know I did.

I'm going to have Watson's "accusatory eyes" in my mind for quite awhile now.

Thank you for this story!
