I admire the fact that you were able to address what was between Erica and Jane in a story that I felt was about Jane and Lisbon and their changing relationship. I think the comparison you drew between Erica and Lisbon made it all the more sweet. Good job!

It is semi-torture - of course that is expressly why I watch the Mentalist... and read your stories... The torture element! I live in an Old Folks Home and we hardly ever have pizza. I do also enjoy other aspects of your stories immensely. Alas, I could coerce a son or grandson to sneak me in a pizza or some dark chocolate... but I don't think they could get Patrick Jane up here to Alaska!

I wish Jane would have caught her watching the video and talikng about it. Because when I watched the episode my only thought was... Don't you idiot see that the woman you're discribing has been right beside you for years now!?
I felt so sorry for Lisbon, because this video remembered her, Jane's just hiding and pretending everything's alright. I watched a viedeo on YT a few days ago where Simon Baker said his nickname in school was "Simon smilie" or something like that. Your tag reminded me somehow. Anyway.
So good Lisbon's patronizing him and wants him to go and have closed case pizza. If it comes to food she really can tell when he's lying. This would be just like putting a big cake in front of Rigsby and he's pretending he's not hungry. That'd be also a lie.
haha, when Jane thought about being handcuffed by Lisbon, I always have to remember the Castle episode where both of them were cuffed. It would be so good to see an episode with Jane and Lisbon being cuffed to each other. Damn, I think it'd end up with a broken nose for Jane ;D
The joke about Cho and his pizza fad was adorable. Good old Cho. If it comes to pineapples, he's going crazy.
I really enjoyed the end with Lisbon kissing Jane on the cheek and telling him he's got a life. That's what friends are for and in my opinion they care for each other, not just like a goog colleague.
I don't have to say anything to the attraction he had to Erica, do I? First I hated Erica and not just because the kiss in season 4, but I thing this shows us, Jane's ready to move on somehow, letting other women in his life. Oh I so hope one day he'll see who is the right one, who is always beside him, fighting his fights with him :))

Poor Patrick...Poor Teresa, as well. I was, by the way, heartbroken when he said "Was," as I truly hoped that he was speaking of Teresa. It did describe her in many ways, so it makes sense...

Well... what can I say, except that you've totally done it again! :D

I too think that on some level that Jane was attracted to Erica, and maybe even intrigued as to how she managed to pull off the perfect crime. The cat and mouse game that they played with each other was charged with sexual energy and chemistry, with the goal being shrewd manipulation till one could trump the other. I thought that Morena and Simon played off each other brilliantly and their scenes together gave me the chills. Definitely one of my favorite episodes to date! ;)

Anyhow... back to this fic, but as always you did a great job of writing this and giving the audience the closure that the actual episode failed to give us. I felt that that last scene with Lisbon looking over Jane's dating interview could be interpreted in a multitude of ways. I felt that right up to the point that he mentioned his late wife that he was referring to Teresa and in some way I felt she knew this too. I also felt that as always he hid behind the persona of his dead wife as he always does to dissuade future love-interests. So your interpretation of this scene and of the whole episode was right on. I just wish that Lisbon would give Jane a friendly peck on the cheek like Hightower did, just to show how much they depend on each others as partners in crime and as friends, if nothing else. So reading your fics are always an excellent way to fill-in-the-blanks that the episode left us with.

This was SUCH a good episode. Especially the ending - this show and its endings lately, my goodness... they sure have been interesting!

I also noticed that you said the third finger on Jane's left hand... well, whether you start from the right or the left, the third will always be the middle finger, which is not the ring finger. Just thought you might want to know that, lol!

In regard to Jane/Erica having chemistry... I don't think it was chemistry of the romantic sort. Honestly, there was really nothing between them on screen, at least nothing visible. And I don't think Jane really felt anything, based on the way he was reacting to her. He was angry and annoyed, and yea, she's pretty, but I didn't get the vibe that he was really attracted to her like that. To quote my dear friend, Grace, "Her interaction with Simon/Jane was great because it so clearly was a professional/competitive spark, but NOT a romantic one. I think the whole "you have feelings for me" and "there's something between us" was just part of their competition, each one trying to out-manipulate the other. It was just part of her hand, it wasn't actually true. Does that make sense? That's how I saw it, at least." To each his/her own opinion, ofc, but I didn't really buy the romantic aspect myself.

I still enjoyed this tag, despite our differences of opinion! The little bit of banter their, Lisbon's refusal to let Jane mope, and the cute scene on the elevator. Good stuff! :)
