How ironic. Sephiroth defeated by a "Chocobo". After all, Cloud is often nicknamed Chocobo. I disagree though. Cloud is Emo. Not all the time maybe, but still... I DO agree though that it is ridiculous to keep making Cloud out to be emo all the time. Like in Kingdom Hearts and Dissidia. Thanks for the story! I really like this two-shot. I agree with you 100% on that first Author's Note - Cloud had issues for a reason in AC, but that's where it should stay. Your fic really gave him justice and I love the emo references you threw in there. Especially how Cloud freaked when Vincent said they were a lot a like. Awesome.

...Now I'm going to quietly crawl in a corner and die of embarrassment. .

Oh god, I laughed so hard! You write young Cloud beautifully, and capture that childhood daffiness perfectly. I love how he rode the chocobo just to impress Tifa. ACE! Also, the explanation for why the chocobos were even there was excellent - the ShinRa survey team to the mountains for setting up the reactor. Great attention to detail!

Vincent's not emo. Really, play Dirge of Cerberus. You'll understand. But, once again, nice fic. Very funny. XD(Baby Chocobo looking for mother Cloud, you have a chocobo on you're boot.)

lol! Poor Cloud. Though perhaps his dark, brooding persona is an attempt to get us to forget about his little 'Miss Cloud' adventure. (Obviously, it's not working.)

I honestly don't see why people have a problem with Cloud's characterization. Granted, I haven't played any of the Kingdom Hearts games or Dissidia, but like you said, those aren't canon. Well, Dissidia is sort of semi-canon, as it's supposedly took the actual characters from their actual game worlds to fight that war or whatever. From the visuals and Cloud's behavior, I'm guessing he was yoinked out of his world sometime between the end of FFVII and when he developed Geostigma. And wasn't there something about their memories being blocked? If the memories Cloud had access to were the depressing ones (and, you gotta admit, there are a lot of those) then his down mood is fairly understandable.

And, of course Kingdom Hearts is totally separate and I think the developers were having fun playing with that aspect of his character.

This is all my view, of course, and it is somewhat colored by my own experiences with clinical depression, personal tragedy, and difficulty communicating. Pardon my language, but emotional problems are a bitch. And, like you said, Cloud gets mostly over himself by the Bahamut fight. (And he is *awesome!*) I think he's still going to be a very serious, introspective sort of person, though. Even when he was relatively cheerful at the end of the original game, I got the impression that was his default state.

(And don't worry about sequels and such. I haven't played Dirge of Cerberus, but I watched a walkthrough and while Cloud doesn't have many lines, he uses one of them to attempt a joke, in the middle of a fight. And he's just plain cute in Crisis Core.)

It was cute and stayed true to his character looking forward to the next part
