nice story. fits so closely with the characters from the films so congratulations! tron seemed a little bit too whiny but i read from start to finish and found it quite cool.

I loved reading this. It was significantly better than the way Tron: Legacy ended in my opinion.

By the way, I also loved the Ram reference!

I've often said that watching Legacy was like drinking tonic water - there might be some sweetness there, but the bitter part will hit first and hit much harder. This story is like another round of tonic; the sweetness of the friendship that was is almost completely overpowered by the bitter that is now. And they live for not the hope of what is to come, but to grieve what is lost. But the bitter fades long enough to taste the other flavors - hope despite it all, the love they still feel for the Grid and each other, regret for how it all went horribly wrong. You end with the feeling that it'll never be "okay," but it can be "salvageable."

This fic is very unlike the Tron fics I've read - with the Grid completely wiped out and Flynn not even a User anymore, just a program, albeit probably a very powerful one. I'm also of the school where I believe that if Flynn survived, he would not be a User anymore, just a program stuck on The Grid itself. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and loved what you've done with Tron and his slow reboot.

His initial denial and hesitancy to join Flynn in rebuilding the new Grid is admirable and most definitely in-character. It also gives him the needed humanity that makes him so different from any other program on the grid itself and Flynn is quick to point out that's also what makes him his friend. Great job and I really enjoyed reading this!

"His repair protocols claim that they are fine. Which they would, of course, if contaminated. It won't do any good to run another check. He runs it anyway." In there, the unsung illogicality of his vague belief/hope is touching. Perfect without falling into the Uncanny Valley. Lovely.

"No," he breathes, and scrambles to his feet. "No, Flynn." After reading all of Asimov's Robots series, I've never imagined I would see a program rebelling so graciously without falling into the Valley. Kuddos. Really.

"There are no doubt old backups of himself who would remember Flynn, who haven't been contaminated. No reason to risk a new system by bringing in what's left of Rinzler." It's also the first time I read a fiction acknowledging program's duplicates. It's a thing among some others that triggered my curiosity and makes me so passionate about this fandom, and I was very happy to get to see/imagine how a program would deal with that. And it got me wondering that even through backups have different consciousnesses (instead of being just memory and parameters log to download), would that be a reason solid enough for Flynn not to restore an infected Tron? The logical and pragmatic answer was deeply satisfying. :)

For all resentment I had against Flynn (for messing up with Clu2 and Tron) after seeing Legacy, the genuine respect you give him for Tron is awesome. It sharpened my idea of his relationship with him. Does he really see Tron as an independent unity, and a non-human one? Or does he consider him as if he was Alan? Depending of the reason, Flynn's character may be so cool... For a hacker, I'd be impressed.

The frail equilibrium between pride, prejudice, hope, and love is very tasty . It strengthens and sublimates a story so well. *am happy/content*

“Flynn trusts too deeply. It's endearing, but not safe. Tron wonders if other Users are the same.” One sentence in a well put context resentment, forgiveness, love, jugement, belittlement, questioning, philosophy. It’s beautiful. (but-but the fangirl and the nerd in me both hope Alan proves him wrong somehow someday )

“Tron's calculations could be off—he's no actuarial program—but he guesses Flynn to be at least two-thirds through his runtime now. Sam has a right to more of it.” After reading Betrayal, I don’t know how Flyn explained his duties to Tron, but that sentence is soooo cool. X) So reasonable, logical, loyal and many-stuff-that-makes-programs-uber-in-Silvara-terms and all of that despite said’s program ‘feelings’ (and thank for the Ram reminding-it’s cute)

Your characterization is far more intense and fair than in the very Legacy movie and in the Betrayal comic. I definite prefer it. I was at the verge of crying by the end of Recompiling. It actually made me ‘feel’ philosophical questions that Disney didn’t even manage to hint at. Besides, your Tron and Flynn are the more realist and vibrant I've got to read among all of the fanfictions out there so far. Minus slash and Quorra/Sam (quick easy romance, plus Quorra getting used to the world - thought, I've yet to get to see Sam silently desiring Quorra while feeling unfair about it )

Well minus that, I'd love to read (and review that is) absolutely anything from you, Tron related. And-and I would trust you with as many OCs as you would use. I would even have your self-insertion if it came to that. XD Because I know you would somehow make it right. :)

So...it's just amazing...it does drag on a-little but other than that it's a perfect and beautiful piece,that I really enjoyed and loved reading.

This was a beautiful sythetized experience of a Tron-verse recomplilation, I think. It ouwls have been lovely to see that scene for an ending in the movie... *sigh*

I really love this! I can imagine that Tron remembers everything that he did as Rinzler, and being the virtuous and noble program that he is, feels like complete excrement about it and therefore unworthy to do what Flynn asks of him.

I only wish that Flynn did survive the re-integration and that we have definite proof that Tron is back; how awesome would this scene be on the big screen?

WOW. This is GREAT. Very emotional, very well written...I LOVE how you wrote Tron: his thoughts, his reactions to his guilt/defying the user...everything about this was just fantastic!

Yay! They live! (isn't it so depressing that only Alan survives from the 1st movie?)

But anyway, this was amazing and gorgeous. (I'd say perfect, but, well, I think we've both seen what comes of trying to create perfection) XD

Love how Tron separates himself from Rinzler. And Flynn's reasoning in order to get Tron to stay was so utterly *real*... Pretty much the entire story. :D

Wow. The best Tron fic I've read so far, hands down.

You get into Tron's head in a way that feels way more real and true to the character than I've seen before. Which is kind of amusing, since the canon movies actually don't do much to get into his perspective at all.

But yeah. Great job with the introspective bits, the repeated testing, distrust of his own analysis. And guilt, of course. The conversation with Flynn was also excellent. It was interesting how Flynn referred to Tron as having worse memories of it than him, but never actually addressed the guilt directly. It left it ambiguous whether Flynn just didn't know what was going on in Tron's head, or had an idea, but didn't know how to touch on it. Either way, well done.
