This was a wonderful story, full of nicely-thought out twists and turns. I loved how you created this rich history for Watson and let the reader see Sherlock discover new and greater depths to his beliefs about his friend.

I am sorry to say that after all that time and effort you took in creating an intriguing tale that your story's ending was lacking. I believe you are aware of it because the quality of your writing is such. Sigh...it would be great if someday if your author's pride and your muses demanded a more satisfying conclusion. My recommendation: Have Sherlock return with the doctor, have him tend to Watson etc with Holmes trying not to look like he's hovering near-by. The best, greatest gift you could give this story is at least a brief, but meaningful conversation wherein Holmes is subtle about expressing his admiration for Watson and Watson, charicteristally downplays it, but all the same, the things not expressed verbally are exchanged and accepted between the two.
