The Baron and Grey Lady were alive during the time of the Foindrs. I'm surprised that more is not know of the disappearance of Salazar Slytherin. Did they not wish to divulge the information? I find it hard to believe no one has asked.

This is really a lovely piece. I don't suppose Severus would accept sympathy from anyone else in Hogwarts, but the Baron has been through it, and he understands. Slytherins look out for their own. They know no one else will.

A clever pairing that worked well. The Baron in the books was so much better than the one in the films and this was a good way of showing his penance.

A wonderful, wonderful portrait both of mortal despair and immortal warning, which made me think both of the practicalities of Snape's endurance of the dark time after Lily's death, and the role of the school ghosts. They're teachers, too, but after the fashion of ghosts: they haunt, they warn, and in some cases (as here) they act to protect their charges.
