XYZArtemis chapter 2 . 11/20/2018 Nicely done! |
equine 14 chapter 2 . 8/16/2016 Oh this is so good! I adore checkov- more hurt/comfort stories about him, please! I love this, thanks! |
Clara Brighet chapter 2 . 8/20/2014 Gahhhhhh that was so goooood! Oh my poor Pavel *sobs* I love Chekov, so finding a story that features him (even in such a tragic light) is a treat. :) By the way, I forgot to mention last chapter that I LOVED Bones's role. Fist-pumping, heart soaring loved. Yep, it was awesome. Also: Yay Sulu! He doesn't get as much screen time as some of the others, so a good Sulu-scene is also a treat. :) Thank you for writing this! - Clara Brighet |
Clara Brighet chapter 1 . 8/20/2014 Oh... oh you've just... you've just broken my heart. Hear that? That's the sound of my heart breaking. My poor Pavel... D": In other words: Bravo! :D Dang, I love what you did with the 'speech impediment' thing. It makes that scene in STID (where Chekov is having trouble getting the computer to recognize his command because he can't say the 'w') heartbreaking. I love it. Thank you for writing! - Clara Brighet P.S. I've always loved Jim and Pavel's interactions. Now I want Jim to help the kid out, seeing as how he's pretty much been there and all... yeah. ;) |
alwaysriverose chapter 2 . 7/6/2013 Are you dead? Cause your story's really good and I want to know what happens but you haven't updated in forever. So are you dead? |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/14/2013 I had a huge problem with your usage of "zou/zour/etc" in the place of "you/your/etc", especially since you claim to "do the accent rather well". One of the letters in the Russian alphabet is actually pronounced "you," so most Russians have no difficulty pronouncing the word. (The letter is ю, and the IPA pronunciation is [ju], if you're curious.) Along the same line, the mispronunciation of [v] isn't a mispronunciation or even the fault of a speech impediment so much as it's the fault of the American ear. Russian's в, the [v] sound, is a little more vowel-y than most English consonants. That, and Chekhov's accent is typically exaggerated so that it will sell. In my opinion, at least. |
DouglasIsCool chapter 2 . 12/7/2012 Aw! Poor Chekov! I love this story! |
Guest chapter 2 . 7/10/2012 Wow, this was amazing. An interesting take of Pavel's childhood. I really enjoyed the way Bones and Sulu helped him. |
Wolfwitch chapter 1 . 5/21/2012 Actually, Walter Koenig based the accent for Chekov off of his russian immigrant father's accent. And certain russian accents do have that inversion. I had a dance teacher who'd only left Russia 4 years ago teach me the Wiennese Valtz. I nearly died laughing the first time he said it. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't just one single "russian accent". Someone from Siberia will not have the same accent, in English, as someone who was born in Moscow. And someone from further west (which was where my dance teacher was from) has another accent, distinct from the first two. My "russian accent" when I choose to mimic it is very siberian because of the early influence of my siberian piano teacher, but the little russian I speak is with a moscovite accent because my russian friends are mainly from around Moscow. So it's not necessarily a speech impediment. It's just that Russia is a big, big place with a variety of accents that will sound different in English. |
Clay Scarlett chapter 1 . 9/7/2011 Eek! I loved it :) not gonna lie - I did shed a few tears. Excellently written, your a really engaging author - one quick question though - what does 'pasha' mean? Love clay x |
Zelda12343 chapter 2 . 7/14/2011 Poor Chekov! At least he's got friends. |
The Codebreaker chapter 2 . 3/29/2011 1) AWWWW I LOVE THIS!:D 2) Chekov's weird accent was actually deliberate! Take it from a Star Trek I-got-the-three-disc-set geek. It was faked a certain 'stereotypical in the 60's' way in the first place, and then when an actual (adorable...) Russian boy did it, he ended up faking it just for fun. And canon... So it was believe it or not meant that way! Geek fact of the day xD |
Super Ultra Sexy Spockfish chapter 2 . 6/29/2010 (I didn't realize you wrote a second chapter!) Dude, this part was even better than the first, idk why but im really into the Hurt/comfort/friendship stories like this, this is one of the best iv read so far! :):):):):):) |
