Jane's power makes you feel like you're BURNING. Like all of your bones are very slowly (and painfully) being incinerated. It also has the stinging factor in our lungs and eyes, like when you are trapped in a burning house and breathe in smoke. When Jane was human, the sight of pain gave her pleasure. Also Aro saved her when she was burning at the stake which also helped her take the power with her.

Hmm... perhaps infuriatingly? I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it, though...
This was a great story, I really loved it. For some reason I just randomly thought of it. I loved it before I got an account, and then I got one, and then I realized— hey! What was that great story I read awhile back? Oh, that's right. So I decided to reread it and fav it.
This was ESPECIALLY painful after Breaking Dawn pt. 2.

1. I'm gonna fav this & 'A Piercing Scream'
2. I would absolutely LOVE this from Carlisle's POV and
3. thought that, maybe, just maybe, if you ever continue this series you could do one from Jane's POV, that would certainly be interesting *makes puppy dog eyes*

But, anyway... *cough* That was amazing. As much as I dislike Edward, I really did enjoy this. I actually liked it better than the original. It really shows the deep family bonds between he and Carlisle, and that's something that not many fics have. Brilliant job on this fic, it was... for lack of a better term, AWESOME. xD

might I suggest 'enragingly calm' to 'erie calmness';just a suggestion. It did not make or break the story at all. In fact I had to search to find it. Great chapter. Love the connection between Edward and Jasper. Few stories bring in that connection. Can't wait to see the other POVs.

i noticed that in your AN you said that you didn't know exactly how Jane's power works. so i hope i can clear it up...

Jane and Alec were born during the time of the witch trials. the voltouri have been watching them ever since they were born because he saw great power in them and he was planning to change them. but since the twins were "different" the town accused them of with craft. they were burned at the stake at around 13 until the voltouri saved them by changing them and killed the towns people.

due to severe burns, jane developed the power to make people THINK they were burning in fire.

(well, that was my long explanation. sorry if you would have rather me just say "her power is to make people think she was burning", but i was in the story telling mood (: )
