this is amazingly written and I sort of want more but also I don't approve of raoul/alanna

and don't think you can distract me by pairing off buri and george
tying up the loose ends

loved the story! although, i must admit you didn't exactly make me NOT want alanna and jon to be together in this story! there was no i think i'm falling for thayet or her changing her mind and really wanting raoul. in the end she just decided she didn't want to be queen. i think if you'd shown maybe a bit more of the build up to the raoul relationship? seemed kinda like jonathan got all the passion and raul got the safe and warm, which is all well and good, but there should definitely be passion too. granted, if tamora pierce can't make me happy splitting up jonathan and alanna, you probably didn't stand much chance either. although i think you did a better job of it:)

I love the bits of the book that are mixed in with the rest of the story. It makes me reminiscent. I think I'll have to reread the books when I'm done with this and the chapters of the sequel. ~Polaris ;)

Aha! Finally, a chapter I haven't reviewed. Well the mystery is solved, I HAVE read this story before. I remember thinking it was so weird *spoiler* that she ends of with Raoul but yet I still liked it. Huh. I'm soooo reading the rest. I'm remembering as I go how much I liked this story when I first read it. I think I like it even more now because I can appreciate it better. Oh Jon, in this story he always strikes me as the evil flirt, noncomittal and all that. I don't like him much here. Excellent writing though, it feels fantastic reading something that doesn't have grammatical errors, awkward phrases, and general mistakes galore. ~Polaris ;)

Huh...I'm so confused. I added the sequel to this story to my alert list but I don't remember doing so. I only faintly remember reading this one too...I thought the tell-tale sign that I had read this would be I left a review for every chapter but I suppose not. Oh well, I guess I'm just going to have to reread, right? XD That should solve the issue. Very well written first chapter! The dialogue and actions seem so natural. There's only one thing that I can advise you on and that' varying your word usage. You described their eyes as 'burning' or 'with fire'. You drew too much attention to their eyes, try focusing on other features. ~Polaris ;)

It's so bittersweet! I'm teary-eyed from happiness and sadness. I really would have loved Alanna and Jon ending up together, but the ending just made sense. _

Shouldn't be "Jon's fooling around," and not "Thom"?

Great story. The Alanna/Jon romance was captivating and though I'm a diehard shipper I like the path you chose for this story. Well done.
