Not really what I expected when I first saw the title, so it was a bit of surprise. You did a great job pulling it off, though, or I won't ever find this story believable. It was, despite the plot, not OOC at all and I could literally see the accurate characterization of Jane and Lisbon. Love this story! Sequel please?

How can something so ugly be so pure and lovely at the same time? Somehow this fic manages to do that. This isn't a story that will give the reader a warm, fuzzy feeling. Instead it is devastating, painful, and yet perfect. It breaks the reader, the way Lisbon and Jane are broken.

Amazing story I definitely vote for a sequel

I'm really pleased that I found this story - I read it once a while ago and loved it, but managed to 'lose' it. Thanks to my poor memory, I couldn't remember the title or author, but I found it via someone's Favourite Stories list.

I just love this one-shot. When I read the summary, I didn't guess the nature of Lisbon's sacrifice, and I was a little shocked by it (but in a good way!). I really felt for Lisbon in this fic; everything she went through, everything she did in order to get Red John, and to still have that pain of unrequited love at the end of it... I really love what you did with her character.

The first time I read this, I didn't catch the 'potential for a sequel' note at the bottom, but I saw it the second time around, and needless to say, I'm intrigued! I would definitely read it. (I know it's not fun to be pressured for a sequel, though). It seems that Jane only realised (or began to realise) the depth of Lisbon's feelings for him at the very end, so I would love to see something that carries that forward.

So heartbreaking, but a very unique plot and I found it interesting to imagine such a situation, where Lisbon goes to extremes to help Jane and he doesn't actually return her feelings. It was well written and a great read. I hope you write more for the Mentalist soon!
