This is great! Good job!
skepsis66 chapter 1 . 10/10/2010
Wow. Faith can be an awesome thing. The serenity that can be found in this short fic is inspiring, with the two boys just sitting quietly next to each other waiting for the sunset.

I really enjoyed this one... sweety, fluffy friendship. Great job :)

Chaotic Memory chapter 1 . 5/1/2010
Very IC. I loved the end the most, and honestly wouldn't mind a continuation. However, I think this oneshot doesn't need it.
Blue-with-purple-polka-dots chapter 1 . 2/17/2010
I've always maintained that believeing in PEOPLE or FRIENDS is far more admirable, glorious and touching than believeing in spirits or gods or anything like that. Which Zuko showed here- this is good, you've managed to write a fic that both those of religious and non-religious backgrounds could enjoy- kudos.

It's an interesting fic, and very enjoyable, though a part of me is annoyed- I was sort of planning a smilar thing once... but ah, you did this better than I could anyway (and it wasn't really 'Avatar' but... ah well).

Great one-shot!

beautiful! i love zuko :)
anonymous-princes chapter 1 . 2/8/2010
Hey!

I like Zukaang friendfics, and I loved yours. I don't think I had ever gotten to think about how the Fire Nation viewed spirituality, and I was greatly pleased with how you hanled it. I think it was great how you turned around the whole concept of "Religion is the opium of the masses" into "not believing in anything makes you more manipulable." Excellent counter-argument. And yet, it doesn't seem like out of place. Thank you very much for exploring their characters and keeping them believable.

And the ending, oh my god, it was beautiful. Yes, AANG is the one who gives Zuko hope 3
InformalSpoofer chapter 1 . 2/7/2010
AH I LOVE IT

Ahem. This is so sweet, and so IC. I can see it happening, from Zuko not really believing in anything spiritual to him just saying that he believes in Aang. D'aw. Lovely ficlet.
Crystalline Maxwell chapter 1 . 1/19/2010
Reviewing is completely not my bailiwick, but you asked nicely for one over on LJ, so here I am! 8D

I like this fic-especially the end, because really, I have a hard time imagining Zuko really believing in any particular spirits or gods or anything like that. (Especially because two years at sea looking for someone who rightly shouldn't exist probably drowns that out of a teenager!) Zuko believing in Aang, and the fact that you made the all-important distinction that he believes in /Aang/ and not the /Avatar/ is excellent, and I give you many A for it.

I didn't catch any real errors throughout the fic itself (which is amazing, because damnit, why can't my writing ever come out so cleanly? If you missed any grammar/spelling, I was too busy reading to see it), so the only thing I can really nitpick at you is this:

No Iroh.

Literally, the only thing that gave my suspension of disbelief trouble in here is that neither Aang nor Zuko bring up Iroh and his semi-constant spirit babble. Even as a thing to dismiss it, or as a nod to Iroh being the black sheep of the family for being all about the Spirit World after returning from Ba Sing Se-by the end of season three Zuko was /definitely/ considering his uncle's opinions further, even if he might not share the intense belief end of things.

I can happily ignore the lack of Sun Warrior business, because frankly, that seems like something Zuko would experience and have nothing else in his life to equate it to (and who knows? It could be before that, but that /was/ their bonding episode, and they didn't have a chance to become sunset-watching-bros before it). But the lack of mention of Iroh was something of a let down, even though it worked for the story. D:

I really like Zuko being disinterested in the rest of the gang's beliefs, and even more that you mentioned that he'd be one for 'very quiet disagreement.' With the kind of beliefs/non-beliefs you've saddled him with here he doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell trying to talk about religion with Katara (though Sokka could be another matter as long as the moon is never, ever brought up).

I'm a little curious about Zuko traveling through peasant villages, since I can't really imagine him having much exposure to the poor pre-banishment, but I wouldn't be surprised if Iroh had pulled some strings early in his exile to get safe harbor in familiar towns while he recovered.

Rereading, I think the only grammatical nitpicks I can actually find are having "Nations" and "Koi" capitalized. In their fishy forms, the ocean and moon spirits were just fish-capitalizing "Koi" kind of feels, to me, like capitalizing "Demons, Spirits, Witches"-but I'm not an English major. XD;

...Also rereading, do they seriously never have physical contact in this fic? Curse you! D: I want more gay than this, I hope you have more, uh, 'conclusive' ZukoxAang hiding /somewhere/ on here or in your LJ, or I will be made of tears. There's not anywhere near enough of this pairing, much less written /well/ out there.

And so, to you, I give the obligatory: MOAR.

(I-I am not awake but your fic was tasty and you wanted a review, don't mind me being awful at this. Or the million year old account.)
Anitoon3 chapter 1 . 1/19/2010
This is so cool! Ooh! The setting sun looks so peaceful! :)

Wow. I never really thought about how the Firenation doesn;t really have a sacred something, like other nations. I mean, I knew some of their people believed in things, but I didn't know they didn't have something sacred, ya know?

I really like this! Thank you for making this! You are a good writer! :)

OMG! LOL! That was good. I LURRVED the end. XO.
things24 chapter 1 . 1/18/2010
This is nice, but I would like to see more.
Evil Overlady chapter 1 . 1/18/2010
Wow! This is good. Only thing is, you might want to add a disclaimer and maybe some indicator of when this occurs in the series. Other than that, terrific job! I think you've captured the essence of Aang and Zuko and their respective nations. Aang is very free and spiritual. Zuko, along with the kids in the episode "The Headband," were very ordered and disciplined (yes, that made them easier to control). The two can learn a lot from one another. I'd be curious to see how they rebuild the world together after Sozin's Comet. Well done! (1st comment dance)
