Reviews for Survivor's Guilt
SaintOfAllSaints01 chapter 4 . 1/29/2013
This was greatly written. The convosations in all the chapters were so well written. I hope Sev's fate is answered in due time in the future.
Janizary chapter 1 . 7/8/2011
Glad I stumbled across this looking at other author's favorites. Big fan of KT's RC/IC and am happy to see when someone makes a good stab at staying in style and voice with the Keldalbe crew.
MsLanna chapter 3 . 2/19/2011
Somehow I wish there had been more guys in Delta, because then you couldw rite more of these. tehy're all so ebautiful and each ringing witht he distinct voice of a Delta. I am not sure I like Fixer, but I sure feel for him.

"Forty-" Vau began, but Fixer cut him off.

"You may call me Fixer, sir, since I'm not in the army anymore, and, thus, my former designation is no longer truly applicable."

From the man who preferred his number to his name, this is (I hate to repeat myself, but it's clones, they do this to me .' )heart-beraking.

Aw.

*sigh*

Do the world a favour and write more clones, more Vau and more of those in combination, will you?
MsLanna chapter 2 . 2/19/2011
I am glad you lied about this ebign a one shot. :D

"Sev did, though, and that's probably why I enjoy it now. When we were in basic training on Kamino, he loved the powerful winds that we faced during outdoor exercises. He saw it as a challenge, and challenges made him feel alive, because he, more than anyone thrived off of the adrenaline rush provided by being in danger, and he enjoyed running against the wind. Thinking about that makes me remember all of our training exercises as though they happened yesterday, even though they really occurred almost a lifetime ago. I remember how we used to convince ourselves that we were invincible. I remember how Scorch, Sev, and I whispered to each other in our dorm late at night while Fixer tried to hack into the Kaminoan mainframe before you had the data terminal removed from our room. I remember all the obstacles that we surived in training together, and I remember how we longed to be the best. Looking back at all that, I can't help but wish that I didn't know now what I didn't know then. I wish we were all still that young and that strong, so that we could run against the wind together just one more time."

Boss is so breaking my heart with his confession here. :'(

When I stand outside in a windstrom like this, I can tell myself that he is still running against the wind somewhere

Mission accopmished. That is so sad. *sniffs*

Another lovely piece. Your style of writing fits so perfectly.
MsLanna chapter 1 . 2/19/2011
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

3

Loved the end. Very Vau and Delta indeed. *lol*
Jedi Master Misty Sman-Esay chapter 3 . 2/16/2010
*V's Karen Traviss for giving the Clones, who already had a hard and question filled existence, an even harsher one filled with even harder questions.*

I can imagine what it would be like to be forced to leave a friend, sibling, for dead because I had orders clear out.
Ann Jinn chapter 2 . 2/10/2010
Interesting to see how you captured the differences in being bred to be the same. Goo job.
Jedi Master Misty Sman-Esay chapter 2 . 2/9/2010
Sorry to hear that you were trapped in a blizzard. About this time last year we had so much snow I joked that I lived on Hoth.

People do tend to try to 'replace' a deceased loved one.

I'm not sure if you're following the Clone Wars but we went to Mandalore and it was an icy/snowy barren waste land! The inhabitants living under huge domes, the populace seemed to be mostly tow headed AKA blond and their a peaceful people trying to recover from a devastating civil war that happened when Obi-Wan was a padawan somewhere between the ages of twenty and twenty four. Take that Karen Traviss!

Yes I know that I take too much pleasure at these sort of things. 0;)
Elemarth chapter 1 . 2/9/2010
It's called *survivor's* guilt (unless maybe you're playing on the phrase somehow), and that name is taken.

LOL

I don't read Imperial Commando, so I think I probably shouldn't bother reading fanfiction about it. But I'm sure anything you write will be good.
Magus1108 chapter 1 . 1/17/2010
This was pretty good, I must say. It sure was sad when Sev ended up MIA in the Republic Commandos game. It's also sad that Travis won't be continuing her series, when it really does need a conclusive end. I have my doubts, but I do hope that gets changed in the nearby future. Once again, this was a good read! Keep up the good work!
Ann Jinn chapter 1 . 1/12/2010
Great story. It's good to see them vocalizing their feelings and adjusting to civilian life.

I too was very disappointed with Karen. She's not thumbing her nose at George, but us fans. The last story was nothing, no plot and all the women do is spend their time in the kitchen.

I had bought and read her City of Pearl series. Good in that she creates several entirely different civilizations and bad in that none of her characters grow or change. Actually very disappointing. I won't be getting any of her other books after this.
Torli chapter 1 . 1/9/2010
Nice one! I think I should order my own Imp commando before it is sould out...:)

I really like this ragtag band called Clan Skirata. More of them!
Ms.MaraJade chapter 1 . 1/7/2010
Hello!

I just wanted to say that this was a very well-written and thought-provoking story. I’m surprised there haven’t been more reviews.

There are a few lines I really liked, and I wanted to highlight them because they were just so in character.

“You are an uncivilized pyromaniac.”

– Loved that one!

“…Both of them had vats that were obviously spiked. Both crazy, cheeky di’kuts.”

– Never thought about vats being spiked before, but it’s a humorous thought.

“Watching the muja, crimson, pink, and purple splendor of the sun as it died made him think about how short and glorious Sev’s life had been, and how Sev had gone down fighting, just as the sun had. If a mongrel’s life was like a day, then a clone’s was like the sunset—filled with fire and struggle, and beautiful only to the outside before surrendering entirely to the darkness.”

- This was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL comparison! I loved the imagery described here.

“…calculated tactical withdrawal…”

- I’ll have to try that one next time I need to exit a meeting at work. ;-)

“After all, Scorch may have been the squad wise guy, but every good comedian needed a counterpart, and Sev had been the one who had complemented his humor. Where Scorch’s wisecracks were light like the day, Sev’s had been dark like the night, and Scorch missed Sev as much as the day would miss the night if it suddenly disappeared. Indeed, Scorch reckoned that if the night were to die abruptly, it would not be the biggest shock in galactic history if the day darkened to try to mimic and make up for the absent night, so it was not really so odd that Scorch had become more morbid every day since Sev had been classified as MIA.”

- This was just such a beautiful image as well. So nicely done!

Wonderful story, and I do like how you gave some closure to Sev's disapparance. However, just keep in mind that it's not Traviss' fault for that. Lucasfilm wouldn't allow her to pursue that part of the story, and she was forced to avoid writing about it. One final note, I'm a bit upset about IC: 2 being scrapped as well, but that's where we fanfiction writers can come in and experiment with various endings for the series.

Again, well done story!

Take care.
Kai'ika95 chapter 1 . 1/5/2010
I just have to say, this is an outstanding oneshot. Great job, it made my eyes water :)
Jedi Master Misty Sman-Esay chapter 1 . 1/5/2010
I feel sorry for those clones. *smacks Karen Travis with the cast iron skillet and then goes on a rant about by doing what she did ruined what could have been a good series.*

Bet she'd marry a clone if she was givin' half a chance.

I think that too many clones would kill themselves than desert and maybe I'm wrong. What do you think?
