"How am I supposed to practice medicine under these conditions?" is a GREAT line. How indeed, Donatello?

This ending is so full of hopefulness. The future is uncertain and the family has a ton of things to discover still, but they're facing it together with more advantages than they originally knew about, and they resolved things between each other.

"He didn't know how to convey how much he wanted to be friends again." This is a wonderfully emotional and heartfelt thing for a tough character like Raph, who sometimes has difficulty accepting his attachment to people and theirs to him, to think. The entire scene with Mikey is great and puts the weirdness that was going on between them in context.

Also, I love Leo having the burst of temper for a change, and Raph's ruminations on air. You-can-tell-it's-been-used is a great description for city air.

This chapter is really full of love. Don's nagging worry, Mikey's helping Raph be comfortable, Leo's helping him up the stairs, Splinter giving him the gong - I really love stories where characters are kind to each other in very unique ways, and I love that although the family is fighting, they still are kind to each other.

Mikey as a little chi-manipulating gremlin: wonderful.

I forgot to mention that I also loved the detail in a prior chapter, of Raph stuffing the remote under his leg to protect it from fractious brothers!

Every chapter is my new favorite brother dynamic. You are just SO GOOD at the brother dynamics. Also, Splinter as a caring dad who can drill right into Raphael's brain is a wonderful thing.

I love how Raphael is clearly kind of bracing himself and taking a subtly aggressive stance with Leo. Also, his bedtime ritual with Mikey is delightful.

I love the dream at the beginning of this chapter - it's funny, strangely plausible as an actual scene (Mikey would be thrilled to become a turtle calzone, wouldn't he? and sleep in a pizza sleeping bag?), and also frightening and absurd. Also I love how you blended it into the section after Raphael woke up.

Swerve: the angel carrying a fishing rod is great. That saying about being a fisher of men and whatnot. 8)

"He felt his grip on reality slipping away like a thin fish" - great line.

Delightful also to see a story that focuses a bit on Mikey and his relationship to the family. I love how much Raph loves Mikey and misses him, it really shows as it comes up again and again in the narrative.

"You're not dying. Would I fall asleep if you were dying?" What a great, great line, and Don is wonderful throughout this story tbh, trying hard to be level-headed, the doctor, helping to keep the family together. He is both wonderfully kind and calm and also a petty brat who gets in some really good zings.

This chapter is very emotional but it's mostly in the implications of things, shown and not told. I love it.

This story is so good that I finished it two days ago and am starting it again, reviewing this time. I love this! I love your style, which is stark and clear, with wonderful dialogue. And I love how very ineffable this angel is, very much as strange and hard to read as I imagine a true divine being would be.

Ah, I'm just re-reading this, it was one of the first stories I think I read here that I really, really liked. I like the fact that the turtles have powers but you didn't make them totally overpowered, the powers are there but it's kinda not the main point (though they are central to the plot), it's more...about the characters and how they interact. When I read this, I doesn't feel like I'm reading for the sake of the story, it feels like there's this whole learning experience that's going on for me as well as the turtles, which I think is the mark of great writing. Anyway, congrats and keep it up! I know you're busy with The Wooden Bestiary but I don't suppose that there's a sequel in the works for Revelation? It's kinda the sort of story you want to go on forever but at the same time, where you ended it was perfect cause there's so much material for the imagination to go on with.
