eimi lexie chapter 1 . 5/24/2010 This is fantastic! I already love it, and I've only read the first chapter. I read 'Salvation', and now I have the oddest feeling in my chest, coupled with terror. Thank you (I really do mean that). It certainly raises some interesting points. Lexie -x- |
whovianbard chapter 3 . 2/22/2010 I really liked the rewrite of the ending. Another stunning piece of work. The last line was breathtaking. Thank you! |
Fullmetal Embers chapter 1 . 12/17/2009 'Tooth and Claw' was a brilliant episode. And I have now become very suspicious of ninja monks because of it... |
jimmy-barnes-13 chapter 5 . 11/17/2009 Really great story, I really liked it :) |
Tracyann45 chapter 5 . 10/20/2009 wow I really loved the story from the start to the end, Strange also that jack didn't no what The Doctor had done all those years ago, Really glad they found out the monks were the culprit's, annoyed that even though, they removed the wolf from Blaine, Greer was angry towards them, Oh well you can't will all the battles, Love every thing that you write, please keep up the stories Janto for ever. |
Miles333 chapter 5 . 10/3/2009 That was such a great ending, though I'm kinda sad that it's over. :) I hope you write more soon, 'cause I'm addicted to your style of writing. You're so great with the Torchwood characters, and I can't wait to see more from you! D Thanks for the awesome Torchwood tale, -M3 |
CantThinkaNuffin chapter 5 . 10/2/2009 I finally had enough time to read the whole thing. I liked it very much, and I think that the way you resolved the issue of the werewolf was very clever. Looking forward to your next story. |
SupernaturalGeek chapter 5 . 9/29/2009 That was an intense story but I enjoyed reading it. I think unfortunately both Jack and Ianto do have to make tough decisions to save people, and it can't help but change them, but they always do it for the right reasons. Whilst I can see where Greer was coming from he might have shown a little gratitude for them saving his and Blaine's life. I liked how Ianto reassured Jack that he hasn't changed him for the worse, and that being with Torchwood - and him - is worth it. I look forward to your next one :) |
Captanne chapter 5 . 9/28/2009 Aside from just saying, "Ditto" to my previous comments about your work, I'd like to add that your dialogue really rang true in this story. Especially keeping Jack from sounding like everything is brand new to him. In CoE, when Ianto propositioned Jack in Hub2, JB played that in such a lovely manner...he's been propositioned by the best before (and, hopefully will be again) and he's flattered, amused, interested and (I think) in love enough to find Ianto's suggestion charmingly bon vivant. Your Jack is very similar. I love the way he readily agrees about being such a good shag, plays along with the sarcastic comment that it's intended to be and also takes it in stride. He's most decidedly not new to this world and he has heard it all before...but what makes Ianto special is that he can still get Jack to respond like a kid. He can draw fond amusement out of Jack when Jack least expects it and I think they both get great enjoyment out of each other's company. Of course, I could be fanwanking... Thank you for not turning Gwen into something she's not...your Gwen, whilst a bit darker in this story than your usual fare, is still the character Myles presents us with. |
RhianaStar chapter 5 . 9/28/2009 I'm definitely reading this story again... especially during a full moon... just for the effect. It was in some ways interesting Brother Greer's reaction... But then sort of left with the "Who is Right & Who is Wrong" questions... Still Jack's reaction and worries about Ianto continued to show how much he cared for him. |
LiquidLash chapter 5 . 9/28/2009 Pretty ending. Kind of bittersweet in a nice whoniverse way... oh, and I forgot to say I liked the whole wolf line in the previous chapter: the wolf and Jack's interplay was wonderfully done. Keep up the fantastic work, dahling! |
Flinch-Hayward chapter 5 . 9/28/2009 THIS was a perfect ending. I loved the echo of the entire fic, and indeed of Torchwood, in that line about Jack having something of the wolf in him (and yeah, I got the reference, but I also think it extends to far more than that). Greer being overprotective of Blaine and not wanting anything to do with Torchwood? Perfect. And also so incredibly representative of Jack's idolisation of the Doctor (those left behind, and those who fear the Oncoming Storm). Simply stunning lines, and emphasis, and meaning behind them. And Gwen's perfectly human and rational response, even though she's in the wrong. Well. I mean, she has a point, but she's missing the big picture. Which is good, because if she understood the big picture, I think she might lose her sense of self and of justice, and be lost in the...big-ness of it all. I think Jack worries about that. He likes her comparative naivety. AND AJHFSDRN! *incomprehensible typing spasm* That ending was actually FANTASTIC. Erh. I don't even think I have words. I love that you've brought up Jack's nagging worry that he might be turning the Torchwood team into monsters, particularly Ianto (I think that worries him more than their potential deaths). And the 'great shag' line. Brilliance. The perfect blend of humour and seriousness. The perfect blend of Janto. Yum. Just like morning coffee. Marry me, and then write more. D |
Flinch-Hayward chapter 4 . 9/28/2009 Haha, loving that line about everything in similar black cases. So, so true. "Nowhere near as well as I do." - Okay, that aside had me tearing up. Possibly this is because I've been discussing Jack and his losses a lot recently, but that was very poignant, very sharp - Very touching in a 'don't touch me; I don't want anybody coming close' sort of way. Am I making sense? I love the little asides of Jack's inner workings. There aren't as many as I'd like, but that's just perfect, because Jack never opens up like that. That one about Ianto actually HURT, because there's such an underlying bitterness to his words, such an anger towards the world even despite, or perhaps because of, his love towards everything in it. You have a lot of wonderful single-sentence paragraphs. Jack took another step. It pounced. Even simply "Pulled the trigger." Your pacing is fantastic - sliding skillfully from lengthy sentences to short ones like you're physically ramming the reader's heart against their ribcage. Maybe that's just me. Loved the way that Greer is the one to shoot the wolf, not to mention the way that you managed to go over that ever-familiar scene of Jack coming back to life and, paying dues to the cliche, still have it sound fresh. And the mention of Ianto taking care of the coat - I know it's one of his 'butler duties', but there's something in the phrasing there that makes it clear that it's more than that. “I’ve inherited Tosh’s position as the one who is just slightly warped.” I think I may just love you for that line. Because yes, Owen was warped, and Tosh was warped, and Ianto just seems to be the one picking up the broken pieces and trying to be everybody that's gone. Not in a replacement sort of way, more trying to give comfort to the rest of the team. Yet at the same time, keeping that razor-sharp dry wit that's so completely Ianto, which is reflected in this wonderful line. And oh GOSH. You've pinned down that fantastic DW-archetype of the creepy-foreshadowing-villain. I'm so picturing possessed!Owen's eyes here, btw. “There is a wolf in you, Jack Harkness.” Completely. Totally. YES. Why does this fit so perfectly? I needed that line, and I didn't know until I read it. And I also owe you for a fantastic hostage scene. I adore the way that you can tell Jack cares for Ianto, but still places his position as Torchwood leader and protector of the human race above that. I adore the way that Ianto calmly accepts this despite being frightened. You're always so in-character with your writing! |
Orion Lyonesse chapter 4 . 9/28/2009 Good plotting and action. Everything went smoothly. Enjoyed the conversation between Jack and Greer and the one between Gwen and Ianto. I love it when he's stubborn and showing steel. Good luck with the NaNo! Keep writing! |
Galadriel1010 chapter 5 . 9/28/2009 O, nice epilogue. That did need addressing, although I didn't realise until you addressed it. Gx |
