It seems to me that fics in the "Family" genre are generally the highest-quality Harry Potter fanfics around, and this story is no exception. Maybe it's that they're trying to write about realistic interactions among people?

I decided to review this piece of work after reading it, as a piece of writing it impressed me very much. Neville's struggle with magic was an untold story for me before this but we all know how that one turned out. If I could pick one fault with the story, and to be honest it isn't even a real fault to be fair to you, it's just that Neville doesn't receive Trevor until after he does his magic, and believe me I'm only even saying it because I'm a picky Sod

This is a really beautiful story. Well written, sweet, and poignant, and a great look into Neville's life as a child.

This was so very sweet. I could feel Neville's emotions just flying off the page, from the boredom to the perceived abandonment, to the determination to the fear and then the love he got from his relatives. It's just lovely what you've done with the Longbottoms here, as they're generally portrayed rather abusively, but this is so sweet and wonderful. Loved it.
