Really empathised with Kate here. Loved this. I know it was a while since you wrote it, but I still want to say, please write more!

I think anyone who's been long term single can identify with that, and even more so when there's someone you want but can't have.

Poor Kate! I like the distinction between Gibbs' fantasy and Kate's over-analyzing ... very appropriate.

Oh, great job on Kate's POV. You write the both of them so well. Can literally feel their pain and frustration. Can't wait for more.

"She remembers the brush of his fingers against hers as he handed her a shoebox with a pair of the ugliest boots she’d ever seen in her life." - I LIKED those boots! In fact I have envied Kate those boots on quite a couple of occasions when I watched "A weak link" again (it is weird: I was a fan of JAG as well as now being one of NCIS, yet I watch my NCIS DVDs FAR MORE than I ever do my JAG ones) - they might be pig ugly, but they look super comfy.

"but that he never let himself forget that they were people. People he cared about." - Especially that one scene in, I think it was, 'Twilight' when the camera sort of panned the whole bullpen and lingered a bit on each team member as they were sleeping behind their desks...

"maybe with a few cookies for good measure." - What kind of cookies?

Oh! I really like the way this story is shaping up. I loved the teaser with Kate waiting for Gibbs in his living room. You really had me going! I think part of the reason I like reading Kibbs so much, is the sexual tension between the two, and I really enjoy stories that start off with that and end with them together. Of course with the way you have set this story up, there are any number of possibilities of revisiting that senario time and time again! Genius! I am always ready for more!

PS. I am also excited to hear that this will be a long story. I enjoy a well deveolped plot, something with meat on the bones!
