I found this story on another user's favorites list, and I'm so glad I did! Your characters have so much life, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Rebecca adjusts to life in the Forgotten Realms. I do hope Mongo is a part of it for a little while longer, at least. He's just a pawn in the game of life, much like Rebecca it seems. ;)

Bekka might think she fell down the rabbit hole, but what a relief that she's out of the chaos her life had become. I love Harry.

I'll admit I normally avoid "modern person sucked into Faerun" stories like the plague, but Bronxwench was raving about you at a message board we're both on, and I have to thank her for the suggestion. You've got me hooked already!

I came to this tale a little late, and I'm now eagerly catching up. The supporting cast is especially lively and memorable, and your lead has far to go to become a better citizen of whatever world she will eventually settle in.

I love the irony of the particular vocation she is unknowingly drifting towards. The competition in FR says it would sometimes happen this was, through trails of tiny bread crumbs, not just grand callings.

Not a good place to be: betwen a giant and an avalanche. You certainly have the knack for putting poor Rebecca in situations where she gets batted around. :) Hope you update soon; that's a helluva cliffhanger there!

In a way, I feel like I have to stand up and cheer for Rebecca. With all that's happened to her, and there is no good reason to remain sane through all that, her reaction is so completely sane that it's dazzling.

Most brilliant phrase of all time award goes to: "... may rabid pygmy marmosets nest in his rectum, god or no god ..." I burst out laughing at that one, and humbly beg permission to use it at an opportune moment in the future (with accreditation, of course!).

Who's to say that a god doesn't appreciate someone that will definitely work a bit on their own eh? Should be quite a ride...

I found this story teh other night and just read through the whole thing. I love Rebecca, she's alot of fun and there are alot of lines in this story that are just pure GOLD. The opening itself in the first chapter was beautiful.

Heh. Very good. I appreciated how you tied everything back to those little hints you kept dropping through the previous chapters...a little known aspect of Shaundakul is that he's Lord of the Portals as well as travelers (stands to reason, no?), so that was especially appreciated. And the way you wrote the feelings of a mortal touched by a god-very powerful. But I got the feeling Rebecca's troubles are just starting, now that she was chosen and claimed...Good stuff-you took a less-ussed deity from the FR and made him very, very close to your readers and made us care about a not-so-nice protagonist as well.

I had to wait for the gooseflesh to go down a bit before I could type this...

This was so powerful, and so evocative. I actually felt like I was standing just a little behind Rebecca and watching the entire encounter. Shaundakul was perfectly portrayed, and superbly mysterious, and everything I hoped he would be when she found him.

Sheer perfection! :D

Augh, another cliffhanger ending!

Rebecca's wish to have someone come and rescue her was sort of the reason for all of her problems, at least from my point of view. It tugged at my heart, but I also wanted to shake her a bit and yell at her to dig a little deeper inside herself. But then again, that's the point of this journey, isn't it?

I loved this chapter...it was bittersweet and beautiful and sad all at the same time.

I think I am going to follow Harry's three rules. They sound just about right to me.
