The Letter from Orion almost seems like a favor. Sirius wouldn't have to have a big scene with his mother. Maybe his father still loves him and that's why Orion kicked him out relatively gently. Mentioning Lily and Lupin almost seemed like he was encouraging Sirius to leave and be friends (Or more) with them. The way Sirius is affected by it makes the letter seem really Out of Charater for Orion
