Wow. You wrote this nine years ago now, at the start of season 2. It is a testament to the quality of your fanfic that it still shines as one of the best works on the site.

This really is an excellent psychological thriller. I loved both endings: both worlds are completely believable and Jane's choice for each is plausible for the character we know. Intellectually I loved ch7 and the bleakness, but my heart loved ch8 and the more optimistic end.

"There is no Red John." With his family murdered, now that is a horrific statement. Contemplating it makes my skin crawl. The only question I'd have is why psychiatrist Sophie would be trying to treat him if Jane himself murdered his family.

I cant believe that this could be happening to patrick. Poor Patrick it would be something though if it all was made up like St. elsewhere all in the mind of a autistic child. I loved the Freddie Krueger reference. I was totally thinking of that.

I swear for five minutes some time ago I had the thought "hey, what if that's all a one big messed up dream", you pictured it way better than I'd ever would do.

And for a Jane-obsessed person this story managed to finally feed my muses and plotbunnies with enough inspiration to keep up this not-so-easy job.

I read one of the paragraphs wrong and I thought it said that he had killed his wife and daughter. It was really creepy - so was the rest of the chapter in fact. I was definitely freaked out.

I honestly liked the other one better... I'm surprising myself by saying that, but you just don't see things like that, so I thought it was better...
