Pike is a cool and fascinating guy, and this is a great take on his thoughts. I think you got his character very well. Great job.

through reading your stories I have gained a respect and empathy for Pike that I did nit previously entertain. At that point the enterprise was still his and Kirk not yet an official captain. Thank you for opening my eyes to a new dimension of the movie, in this and your other stories.

i LOVED this, and i can't wait to read the rest of your fic! your writing style is wonderful - (and i'm sorry for my word choices, i can never do stuff like this justice) and it's really great to see things so clearly from second-person perspective!

i probably won't end up reviewing all of your stories that i read - it would most likely mean you recieving about 20 almost identical lots of incoherent adoring babble - but i have a feeling my favourites list will be increasing drastically!

Amazing. I'm not sure that I have words to describe the wonderfulness of this fic-the utter realism that pervades it, the delicate handling of a tumultuous situation, and so much more. It is superbly written and characterized. A couple phrases really caught my attention: "...not a mere three years after his first glimpse of all that raw potential bleeding away in a bar in rural Iowa..." and "...he'd seen the young man's juvenile record, after all, and knew perfectly well how to read between the lines..." were particularly wonderful.

Wow. What a really insightful piece into a character that doesn't get too much love in this ficdom. You've given Pike a voice that we really didn't get to see after his rescue from the Narada and I think you did it magnificently. This fic really weighs in on all that happened in the movie and the weight of it all upon Pike. This was a fantastic and insightful view. Great job!

Lovely little story and very true to the version of Pike we get in the movie. (It does make me interested and see what sort of media storm Kirk and Co would be subject to - not to mention finishing their classes before graduation.)
