I find this very interesting. It certainly can hold true, and now I'm going to go think about this

My thoughts precisely! Well said!
gwenstacey chapter 1 . 10/11/2009
This was awesome. The insites into the characters were brief but powerful, very nice. And bravo for including Tonbo and Iwashi, they need more love.
Taivasalla chapter 1 . 5/20/2009
Very sweet. I liked the individual glimpses into the chuunin you chose, and the observation that many people see low rank as failure, when it is in fact a choice. Also in Iwashi's paragraph: "Mednins have to care. Jounin, by definition, can't." I liked the juxtaposition here.
chibi heishi chapter 1 . 5/18/2009

WhyMustIWrite chapter 1 . 5/6/2009
Loved it! :)

I really enjoyed your writing style. The imagery was quite effective. A case in point was the line "Death was their constant companion – not hovering in the wings, but ever by their sides."

Kakashi coming in tears to Hana, injured Pakkun in hand, is a scene I won't soon forget. And a very nice way to describe Iruka's thoughts on teaching.

I tend to think that probably most chunin couldn't make it to jounin unless they trained very intensively to build their skills. Not everyone can be an elite. Still, this was a fun read. I love how you highlighted the chunin's amazing contributions to the well-being of the village and their fellow ninja. By far my favorite line was the last one. That was the perfect way to end this. - Thanks for posting this.
Without Fear chapter 1 . 5/6/2009
Interesting reflection, but I disagree with the chuunins being the true shinobi. Shinobi, by nature, are supposed to be tools and be the ultimate weapon. The chuunins, by your definition, would not true shinobis then.

But as humans, warriors, etc, I like how you highlight the importance of the chuunin rank. They are part of the heart and soul of the village (aside from the civilians that provide other services)

Chuunins are underrated, but since Kishimoto often kills them off (not just them, but non-important jounins and ANBUS) like they are flies, the attitude towards them is not surprising.
